Going Merry to Rise on Karashima Park

One Piece Going Merry
One Piece's Going Merry, Straw Hat Pirate's first ship, is planned to be built at Karashima Park in the prefectural capital of Kumamoto City. This is the birthplace of One Piece's creator, Eiichiro Oda. The plans were revealed during the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly in southwestern Japan meeting.

Kumamoto Governor Ikuo Kabashima approved oon the plan and is willing to explore ways that the prefectural government can support the civic group's "dream."

Going Merry is used by the Straw Hats during their cruise from East Blue to Water 7, along with them, facing though challenges and battles. The crew even considered it not just a ship but a real friend, especially Ussop. Merry was later replaced by Franky's Thousand Sunny after its death in Eines Lobby.

Real Going Merry at Tokyo
The first replica of Going Merry was created and exhibited last 2003 and 2005, and sponsored by Shueisha, Toei Animation, and Fuji TV, in Odaiba, Tokyo.
