Warner Bros Plans Bleach Movie Adaptation

Bleach Wallpaper
Warner Brothers, currently developing a live action adaptation of the classic manga Akira and has plans on adapting Ninja Scroll, is now in the process of acquiring the movie rights of today's popular manga/anime, Bleach by Tite Kubo.

According to Heat Vision Blog:

Peter Segal is in negotiations to produce, though not direct, the adaptation with Viz Media, the anime publishing house that releases the books in English in the U.S. Michael Ewing, Segal's partner at Callahan Filmworks, will also produce.

Bleach is about a story of a young man named Kurosaki Ichigo, who has the ability to see ghosts and spirits. He later met Rukia Kuchiki, a Shinigami (Soul Reaper), who escorts dead people to Soul Society. But an unprecedented event happened. During a Hollow attack, Rukia accidentally passes all her powers to Ichigo. Thus making him a substitute Shinigami.

So what's next in line? Naruto or One Piece? Or maybe Zac Efron's Full Metal Panic?

Fans are hoping that these recent plans on live action adaptation movies will not lead to disappointments similar to Dragonball Evolution and Blood: The Last Vampire.

I would be delighted and overjoyed if someone with a background in black magic to put a grisly curse promising agonizing death on anyone from corporate Hollywood who tries to adapt Bleach into a live action movie. I sincerely believe if a Bleach movie had to be done, it is best done in native Japan by maybe someone like Takashi Miike, Ryuhei Kitamura, or Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Stop the white-washing hollywood. I weep for Tite Kubo.

If they really are going to do a live action adaptation for the love of God cast asian-american actors, hthere are a lot of japanese/korean/chinese actors that are fluent in english cast them in movies like this. There are a lot of asian actors in north america looking for a break and movies like this would give them a shot. It makes no sense casting for example someone like Robert Pattinson in an Akira adaptation (a rumor which i have read could happen.. i just threw up in my mouth a little bit there), no offence to caucasian actors but really does the name ichigo kurosaki work for a caucasian person i think not. So hollywood, if ur planning on doing any adaptations for gods sakes please cast the right ppl for the parts. Its bad enough we got the horrid dragonball evolution lets not ruin other great japanese franchises by casting actors who arent believable as japanese characters. It just pisses the loyal fans of the franchises your adapting and wrong casting ruins the spirit of the series being adapted.
