One of the best kid's shows during my time is back to its home! According to recent news, the Power Rangers franchise will be back on the hands of Haim Saban's newly formed company, Saban Brands from Disney.
Saban has made a deal with Nickelodeon for 20 new Power Rangers episodes, while the library of some 700 older episodes will begin airing on Nicktoons later this year. Saban Brands prexy Elie Dekel stated that there will be live tours and a NEW theatrical film to be revealed soon. This is one of the best methods to show this generation's kids on what their parents used to watch back then.
Power Rangers became famous in the mid-1990's as a new breed of live action television series for kids. It's a story of five young individuals chosen by an entity called Zordon to fight the evil witch, Rita Repulsa in conquering Earth. One of the show's strong feature is the giant robot battles. Saban's Power Rangers also offers direct continuity between series, from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Power Rangers: In Space, which is known as the Zordon Era.
As all tokusatsu fans out there knew, Power Rangers originally came from Japan's Super Sentai series. Action footage are regularly dubbed and merged to form a new series. The first Power Ranger series came from the footage of Kyouryu Sentai Zyuranger, and the trend goes on every year until the last series, Power Rangers: RPM, with footage taken from Engine Sentai Go-onger, was aired.
With the Power Rangers is now officially brought to life back again by Saban, I'm wondering which Super Sentai series will they take? Is it Samurai Sentai Shinkenger or Tensou entai Goseiger? That's the thing we need to find out soon.
