[MV] Kenji Suzuki - Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman
This week's music video came from the Super Sentai Spirits 2006 concert. We have the theme song from the 1990 Super Sentai series, Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman by Kenji Suzuki.

Along with Choujin Sentai Jetman, this is the last Super Sentai series that aired here in the Philippines during the 90's and the early 2000. This show is called here as Fiveman: Earth Defense Force, but they basically retained almost everything, including the OP and ED theme. And the funny thing is that Red Hawk and Five Red have the same voice actors and he would later dub Dex Stewart in the Filipino dub version of Saban's Masked Rider. Weird, I never recognized his voice when he was in Dex Stewart mode considering that both of his Sentai characters that he dub sounded heroic.
SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler Review
SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler Review
Finally, the first non-Tamashii Web Exclusive Kamen Rider bike is now released in SH FiguArts. SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler is Kamen Rider W's trusty motorbike that helps him in various Dopant cases.

SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler measures 14cm, just in scale for the SH FiguArts Kamen Rider W figures. Very much to collectors disappointments, the bike doesn't include any of W Cyclone Joker's grabbing hands, like the previous Kamen Rider bikes.

This means that SH FiguArts Kamen Rider W Cyclone Joker can't ride stably on SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler unless you use the grabbing hands that came along SH FiguArts Kamen Rider W Heat and Luna Sets. Other Kamen rider W SH FiguArts will go well with it since others already include grabbing hands.

SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler costs Y4000, or about US$47. Here's a good SH FiguArts Machine Hardboiler review to help you decide before getting this figure.
Kamen Rider OOO Ep 1 Preview
I just saw a leaked preview of Kamen Rider OOO. This could be a preview for it's debut episode, "Ahh My Tomorrow" taht will be shown after Kamen Rider W's finale episode this Sunday.

Kamen Rider Amazon Review
Kamen Rider Amazon Review
Kamen Rider Amazon is the fourth Kamen Rider Series in the Showa era and the shortest series so far, with 24 episodes. Aside from the fact that the series “revolutionized” the franchise by its gore and the Rider itself considering that Amazon’s design is not based on an insect like the other Riders before him.

Because of a plane crash, a young Japanese baby called Daisuke Yamamoto was stuck in the Amazon Rainforest and was adopted by an Incan Tribe. Years later, he grew into a wild man and one day, the Ten-Faced Demon, Gorgos attacked the Tribe and slaughtered everyone because he is looking for the mystical armlet that would grant the user great power.

Therefore, Elder Bago decides to do an operation that will transform Daisuke into a creature using the mystical Gigi Armlet and Incan Science and orders Daisuke to go to Japan and look for the Dr. Kousaka who will help him understand the power of the armlet. Apparently, he knows Daisuke’s parents. Elder Bago asked him to take good care of the Armlet before he breathe his last.

Daisuke sneaks inside a ship that is going to Japan. O_O Wait a minute, how did he know that the ship is going to Japan? Anyways, when he arrives to Japan, he goes looking for a scientist who can help him, and there he met Masahiko Okamura who is the first person he befriended. Because Daisuke cannot speak and only growls what he says, he gave him the name, Amazon since he knew that he came from the Amazon thanks to the scientist in which both of them are related.

The Beastman that is pursuing him, the Spider Beastman, has found Amazon and Masahiko witnessed Amazon’s transformation into a creature. Because of this, Masahiko gave him the name, Kamen Rider Amazon and Amazon Rider. At the end of the first episode, Amazon never knew the secret within his armlet because Spider Beastman killed Dr. Kousaka before Amazon learned something about his armlet.

As the series progressed, we learned the reason why the Ten-Faced Demon wants Amazon’s Gigi Armlet. The said armlet holds great power that once it combined with Gorgos’ Gaga Armlet (Which looked like the Gigi Armlet except its “nose” is inverse from the Gigi Armlet) it would grant the user of both Armlets great power and with it, the Ten-Faced Demon will use it to conquer the world.

Aside from that, he befriended Tobei Tachibana, who he first met in a motorcycle race and forced Amazon, I mean teach him how to ride a motorcycle. Later on, he gives Amazon his personal bike, the Jungler and so far, one of Tachibana’s most vibrant work.

He later made friends with Mogura Jujin (Trans. Mole Beastman), one of Geddon’s Beastmen who first aligned with Geddon whose mission is to kill Amazon and get his armlet. However, because of his failures in killing Amazon, he was placed outside the ground and forced to die in a heat stroke but because Amazon saved him, he later aided Amazon in his various adventures and was affectionately called, Mogura by Amazon and company.

As the series progressed, Amazon slowly adapts into society and is slowly being civilized thanks to Masahiko and Ritsuko’s help who gave him his clothes. Later, with the help of Masahiko, he learns who to speak and read Japanese.

After the defeat of the Ten-Faced Demon, Gorgos and the fall of Geddon, a new organization appeared called Garanda Empire, led by the Great Emperor Zero who is focused on conquering the world unlike its predecessor. Will Amazon defeat him? That is what I want you to find out.

On to the Kamen Rider Amazon review, I got interested with this show thanks to the YouTube clips that I found online, to be exact, those clips with Amazon killing the Beastman of the week. That is when I learned more about the series and learned the HiNoTori Fansubs in subbing the entire thing; I got the chance to watch the series. Since this series is best known in the franchise for its gore, I will start with it.

The series aired back in 1974-1975 so I didn’t expect that the effects are top-notched but during the time that a thing called CGI doesn’t exist in mainstream, the effects team need to be creative in terms of the blood spurting coming from the enemies Amazon will… err, mutilate. Due to their creativity, the effects worked and it really created a huge impression that Amazon is a wild man coming from the depths of the Amazon Rainforest and martial arts is not in his field. Because of its gore, moral guardians have problems with this show considering that Kamen Rider is a superhero show and kids admire superheroes.

About Amazon, in the earlier episodes, Amazon usually growls, giving people a hard time in understanding him. There is one episode that Amazon got lost in the city, like what most people would describe it; an urban jungle. With him being lost in this “jungle” he hard time in understanding his fellow humans that in some point, he almost hated the humans he must protect. One thing that I loved about Amazon is that he is a child who was suddenly forced to learn the ways of the world in a hard way considering that he never got the chance to learn how to speak and the only way for others to understand him is by a hand sign that means, “Friendship.” That is the charm of the series.

A fun factor about the series is that as Amazon slowly becomes “civilize,” his fighting style evolves. First, his fighting style involves him jumping the enemy, biting the hell out from his opponent and involves fewer fists, more grunts and slashing. But as the series progressed, his fighting style evolves. Not only he does his usual tactic to jump, bite and attack, he finally involves more use of his fist and uses more his own style of attacking his opponent. Along with it, he started calling his slash finisher as Dai Setsudan (Trans. Big Slice) and later his kick, Amazon Kick.

Since he is the first Rider whose design is not based on an insect, I would comment on that. Because of his radical design, earlier in the series only a couple of beings trusted him, the first one who trusted him was Masahiko, later Tobei and later, those people who saved him. Ritsuko was the last from the core cast who trusted him because according to her, it is Amazon’s fault that Geddon came in Japan because of his armlet. After Amazon saved her, she trusted Amazon. And in theory, that is the point that the Amazon’s World Arc in Kamen Rider Decade that they worked on with and added modern flavor on it.

In addition, I love the fact that you can keep on guessing which creature Amazon was based. Based on my research, he was based on a chameleon but his fangs gave him an impression that his head more looks like of that of a piranha or a fanged lizard… anyways, Amazon is the first Rider that looks like he never wore a mask. Because of his origins, you can say he transformed into a different creature and it was clearly emphasized in Amazon’s World Arc in Kamen Rider Decade.

Masahiko was one of the believable characters in the series. Aside from the fact that he has this charm that he is a really a kid, add the fact that he easily trusted Amazon, he is smart and if knows he can do something to help Amazon, he will do it.

On to the two halves of the series, first, I will talk about the first half that involved Geddon. To be honest, I never find Geddon quite a threat in world peace considering that they just want Amazon’s Gigi Armlet and once they get it, this is when their plan for conquering the world will come into fulfillment.

The Ten-Faced Demon, GorgosTheir leader, The Ten-Faced Demon, Gorgos was probably one of the creepiest Rider boss designs I have seen in the Showa Era. Its large head, other nine talking faces swear about killing Amazon once the camera pans on them and the fact that he is an intimidating figurehead gave me an impression that Amazon will have a hard time in defeating him… and he did.

In the build up on their final battle, when Amazon got the chance to be near with Gorgos, he tries his best to attack him but because he flies, it took Amazon some time to defeat one of its faces.

As for the episodes in the first half, it is retro gore fest in some episodes and most of the time; it involves Amazon’s growth from an uncivilized wild man coming from the Amazon into a civilized man known in his birth records as Daisuke Yamamoto while retaining his inner wildness. The first half is the series in its prime because it involves the growth of our hero before he started to face the bigger threat, the Garanda Empire.

On the second half of the show, after Gorgos’ arm was cut off and before Amazon got the chance to get the Gaga Armlet that was found in the mutilated arm, Black Followers from a different organization came to take it. Garanda Empire has just made its presence.

Unlike its predecessor, they are into conquering the world and Amazon is just one of the things they need to take care off for them to be successful in conquering the world. This is what I say a bigger threat. Most of the episodes in the second half felt like a standard tokusatsu episode back in the 70’s with the monster of the week and the problem of the week in tow. My problem with these episodes is that the trademark gore of the previous half is slowly diminishing… but some episodes in this half in which we saw good ol’ Amy removing the head of the monster. Makes me suddenly wish that Amazon will appear on a Mortal Kombat game!

The best thing about the Garanda Empire is the fact that they are bent in destroying the world that they don’t care if Amazon has the Gigi Armlet. They just proceed with their plan. One of my favorite Garanda plots involves the Sea Anemone Beastman in which we saw it suck the blood of its victims and gives his own blood in his victims to turn them into his slaves. Another favorite plot of mine involves the Zero Device, a device that is needed to create a devastating earthquake that will destroy Tokyo once activated.

Great Emperor ZeroAs for their boss, Great Emperor Zero, he is indeed a real threat. Aside from his intimidating presence, he doesn’t accept failure and he himself eliminates those who failed him by using his spear that emits sparks that once you got hit, you will instantly die.

The best part of Zero is that Amazon never had a chance to transform into his Rider form! If he tries to transform, Zero will just use his spear and he will revert to normal… unless a certain armlet is here to give him more power.

One of the biggest surprises in this half is the death of Mogura Jujin. Sure was just an aide and probably a prototype of Kamen Rider Den-O’s Taros, he is one of those lovable support characters considering that he is the only kaijin during that time that aligned itself with the good guys… until Whale Mutant appeared in Kamen Rider BLACK. One of the things that I loved about Mogura is he is sometimes a comic relief character and sometimes he cowers in fear when some of the enemy Beastmen appeared. Even with that, there are some episodes in which we saw Mogura’s heroic side, to be exact is his last few moments and the episode he protected the girl he liked… who turned out to be one of the bad guys. Ouch. Because of these qualities, seeing him died gave me an impact that he is one of the most human characters in the series despite its appearance.

As a guy who barely watched a Showa Era Kamen Rider show (First was BLACK then this), and based on my research that there are crossover episodes in which the previous Riders will make an appearance but to my disappointment, it never happened which became the one of the turning points in the franchise. This is the first series that doesn’t involve the Senior Riders to appear which will later happen in some series in the franchise especially in the Heisei Era… till Decade came along.

Overall, Kamen Rider Amazon is a fun series to watch. It was something out of the box from a standard Kamen Rider show. Aside from the fact that you do not need to be based on an insect to be called a Kamen Rider (Looks at Kamen Rider Agito), it also changed the face of the franchise in terms of story and in terms of special effects. In the time with no CGI, they have to be creative to give us the impression that Amazon is a wild man from the Amazon… and it worked. From the Kamen Rider Series that I watched, this is one of my personal faves because of its ingenuity and its style.
Triple Change Henshin Belt Vol. 1 Review
Someone in YouTube has just uploaded a review of the Triple Change Henshin Belt Vol. 1 which features Kamen Rider Decade, Kiva and Amazon's henshin belts namely DecaDriver, Kivat Belt and Amazon's Utility Belt, the Condorer respectively.

... So basically, the belt just lights up, and that's it?! I mean, did they pull an effort just to Condorer a detachable part in which I would love to scream Condorer on top of a 44-floored building?!

Bandai will also soon be releasing Triple Change Henshin Belt Vol. 2 featuring Kamen Rider Kabuto, Black and V3 namely Kabuto Zecter, King Stone and V3 Belt respectively. It will be due on November 2010.
Kanna Mori Dating a Comedian?
Kanna Mori Dating a Comedian?
According to the latest issue of Josei Seven, Satoshi Kanada of the popular comedy duo Hannya is in a relationship with model and Kamen Rider Decade's actress Kanna Mori.

Kanna Mori is said to be a big fan of Satoshi Kanada. They were introduced to each other by a friend, and they apparently started dating around June. In mid-August, the two were seen meeting at Kanada's apartment, as evidenced by photographs that appeared in the magazine (above). It is also said that Kanada has already given Mori a spare key to his appartment.

So far, their agencies, Hirata Office and Yoshimoto, have not made any statements about the rumor.

Greeds: Kamen Rider OOO's Villains
Greeds: Kamen Rider OOO's Villains
On the top pic are the Greeds, Kamen Rider OOO's main villains. From your left, we have: Gameru, Cazari, Mezuru and Uva and as we all know, there is one Greed is missing in the group, namely Ankh who would later give the OOO Driver to Hino Eiji.

All of the Greeds are currently incomplete because of the medals were sealed in various places. They also have mysterious belts.

They have two kinds of medals. The one with colors is the Core Medal, it's the core of a Greed's existence. Medals that are silver are known as Cell Medals. These make up their bodies. The Core Medals are like their hearts, souls etc. While Cell Medals are basically like cells in a living thing.

Ankh is a Greed with not that many medals, which caused him to become an arm. This is why he took the body of the policeman. Like all the other Greeds, he's collecting medals. To make up for his lack of power, he uses Eiji. What's different about Ankh is that he is sly and sharp sighted unlike the other Greeds.

When they put a Cell Medal inside a human, a monster called Yummy is created. Their source of power is desire. How the Yummies are, depends on the Greed. For example Uva's main desire for Yummies are money, wealth etc.

Connection Between Foundation X and Kogami Foundation
Connection Between Foundation X and Kogami Foundation
It is recently confirmed in the latest episode of Kamen Rider W, Episode 47: The Abandoned U/A Request From Philip, that there's a big connection between Foundation X and Kamen Rider OOO's Kogami Foundation.

According to the pic above, it is the Foundation X who created the Medals (Core and Cell Medals in the pic) for Kogami Foundation at a price of $43.25 Billion. This means that Foundation X is the one backing up and funding Kogami Foundation in creating Greeds and Yummies, like how they did with Kamen Rider W's Museum.

According to sources, this might be a hint that Kamen Rider W and OOO stands on the same world and timeline, far from the other Kamen Rider series.

Go! Go! Kamen Rider Movie Review
Go! Go! Kamen Rider Movie Review
Go! Go! Kamen Rider is the first Kamen Rider film that was released back in 1971, dunno the exact date though. This film is the theatrical version of Kamen Rider’s 13th Episode entitled, Lizardron and the Big Monster Army. Because of this, you will notice that the film looks like a standard TV sized episode adjusted to widescreen.

The film kicks off with two of Shocker’s Inhumanoids attacking two guards. After this, they started their mission, to destroy Toyo Atomic Energy, an atomic plant but because of the barrier that is protecting the lab, they can’t enter.

The two returned to their base and reported it to their leader that is speaking via an eagle carving pasted on the wall. Their mysterious leader then told them that compared to the other two Shocker branches found in the US and in EU, the Japanese branch is slow in progression (Duh, with Kamen Rider foiling your plans every week, no wonder!) that is why, Shocker Japan will attack the lab for their plans of world conquest.

Since this one minor problem, Shocker’s Leader called the scientist to use the ball-shaped bomb to destroy the barrier. But the scientists protested, it must be thrown 20 miles away from the target and it weights 5 kilos. So, their Leader was partly pissed and said, make a new reconstructed man!

After this, we are placed in scene in a football (or soccer depending on your culture or what you are used to call this sport) field in which we are introduced to Nomoto Ken, the best player in the league, and Shocker wants his skills for their plan. Ken was… a jerk. That’s all you need to know about him. He thinks he is the best player around the league and without him, his team would suck. After his team left, Shocker finally makes an appearance. Ken tries to run away but he failed in escaping them and was captured by Spider Man.

We are now into a bar in which we saw Tobei Tachibana reading the newspaper that was grabbed by Taki Kazuya. Tobei and Kazuya had a chat regarding with his wife and that. Kazuya asked Tobei where is Takeshi Hongo?

Where is Hongo anyway? We learned that he is investigating in the attack in the atomic lab. Hongo figured out Shocker’s plan, once the lab will be destroyed, it will emit materials that will cause Tokyo to be destroyed in ten minutes. How did he figure that? For those who hadn’t watched the first episode of Kamen Rider, Hongo was chosen because he excelled in all aspects, namely, sports, intelligence and the like. It is said his IQ is above genius. No wonder he deducted Shocker’s plan!

Back in Shocker’s base, the transplantation on Nomoto Ken’s body is complete. His body was fused with the DNA of a poisonous lizard in which we learned his skills that his tail can knock off his enemies and he has a strong kick. The scientist commented that he is perfect for the job in destroying the barrier. The Leader is pleased and orders them to start researching the lab’s weakest spot for Lizardron to kick the bomb and destroy the barrier once and for all.

We are back in the atomic lab in which we saw Taki Kazuya grumbling that Hongo is ordering him. Kazuya stood up and noticed a car. The ones inside the car are recording something via a small camera. Ruriko, Prof. Midorikawa’s daughter (Prof. Midorikawa is the one that helped Hongo escape from Shocker) noticed that the said car is circling. Ruriko follows the car and we saw Taki on his bike looking for Ruriko.

The car entered an old house, Ruriko deduces that the old house is Shocker’s base. She decides to infiltrate it but Taki arrives, said that this is a man’s job and Hongo must not defeat him and so he takes a momentum and jumps over the gate!

Taki enters the house and inspects some rooms until he hit something, a room filled with statues of monsters that Kamen Rider defeated in the past episodes. After commenting that who would collect those horrible looking statues (Um, I know someone who might be interested on those) the owner of the house appeared. He commented that what he is doing is trespassing. Taki replied that he is looking for something. After a small talk between the two, Taki leaves and we learned that those “statues” turned out to be real monsters!

Lizardron (Who is in his human form) comments that all of these creatures where defeated by Kamen Rider… and they are all losers. After his speech, he switched into his monster form. Meanwhile, Taki and Ruriko are biking beside a mountain when suddenly, a pile of rocks rolling down from it. One of the rocks hit Taki. Ruriko comforts Taki when suddenly, another rock started to roll, and Kamen Rider jumped in the air and used his bike to destroy that rock!

Kamen Rider rides uphill, in which Lizrdron confronted him. Lizardron kicks Rider and it hit him. Rider stood up and it felt like it was nothing to him! He then jumps, planning to attack the monster, but before he makes his attack, Lizardron kicks him! Therefore,, Lizardron commented that even Kamen Rider can’t beat him. Rider came sliding downhill and exclaimed that he failed.

Taki was sent into a nearby hospital to heal his injury. On his bed, he remarked the Kamen Rider failed. The girls visited Taki and said that he will stay in the hospital for a week. Meanwhile, after a disappointing loss from Lizrdron, he decides to train himself to beat him!

He is inventing a new skill to defeat Lizardron’s football attacks. After his first try, he commented, he can’t beat Lizardron. In this situation, his mentor, Tobei Tachibana appeared. We learned the significance of the place in which Kamen Rider is training. The said place used to be Tobei’s training ground to be the best racer. After a few encouraging words from him, Kamen Rider resumes his training, with Tobei aiding him.

After some tries, he figured out the way on how to defeat Lizardron’s attacks. He asked Tachibana to throw the rock in a far distance. Kamen Rider prepares himself and uses his newly improved Rider Kick according to the Hong Kong Sub is called… Electric Ray Rider Kick! WTF?!

After the success of the training, Tachibana runs to Taki in which we learned he left the hospital. Before Tachibana is about to leave, he spots an ID, it has the FBI logo in which we learned this, Taki Kazuya is a FBI Agent.

Back to Taki, like what Tachibana said, he is infiltrating Shocker’s base. Because Kamen Rider failed, it is his job to defeat Shocker. That is why he infiltrated their base again. After noticing a downward stairway, he went down and saw Shocker’s symbol on the wall. Shocker’s Leader welcomed him by saying that the 11 Shocker Inhumanoids that he saw earlier are now in the lab and now, he must die.

Shocker Henchmen started to appear and Taki is fighting them with ease in his current state! After fighting some henchmen, Kamen Rider breaks in and Taki asked Kamen Rider to go to the lab right now, and said that he can take care of these henchmen. Rider lefts and we are back at the lab in which Lizardron is preparing for his attack.

Lizardron kicks the ball but Kamen Rider, riding on his motorcycle; the Cyclone grabs the ball and throws it back on the monster! Four of Shocker’s Inhumanoids then confronts Rider. Kamen Rider exclaims that these are the monsters he has defeated back then but Lizardron replied, these guys won’t die till they have done their revenge on Kamen Rider. And so, Lizardron tells Rider his odds in winning, its 11 against 1, can Kamen Rider defeat them?

And so, the fight between Kamen Rider and the 11 Inhumanoids begins. Kamen Rider leaps out from his bike and attacks the ones who are attacking him. After he finished defeating those monsters, Kamen Rider confronts the boss. Lizardron uses the ball and hit it on Rider, but Rider leaps on midair and uses his new Rider Kick!

He Rider Kicked the ball and it directly hit Lizardron. Since the said ball is a bomb, it exploded the entire area that caused the death of Lizardron and the other monsters. Kamen Rider won the battle. After Tachibana and Taki congratulated him, Kamen Rider leaves. He will return to the battlefield once Shocker will start its new plans for world domination. Continue fighting for justice and peace! Tatakae! Kamen Raida!

On to the Go! Go! Kamen Rider Movie review, watching it on decent Hong Kong subs help me understand how the original Kamen Rider kicked ass and why he was one of Japan’s most iconic superheroes. Watching it in an era in which everything seemed to be run by CGI, Go! Go! Kamen Rider still stands out as a great superhero action flick.

Since I haven’t watched much Kamen Rider, I will comment on the characters that appeared in this film. Taki Kazuya, I learned about this guy while reading the Kamen Rider Spirits manga, a manga that talks about the lives of the Riders after their stories ended and it also tied loose ends on some questions that their respective series left unanswered. Taki Kazuya was an FBI agent and later became one of Kamen Rider’s allies. When I saw him in this film, it seems he doesn’t have the idea that Takeshi Hongo and Kamen Rider are just one person. I mean, he wants to compete with Hongo, kinda like how Nago wants to defeat Kamen Rider Kiva without the knowledge that Kiva is Kurenai Wataru.

The film has Taki Kazuya written all over it. In this film, I suddenly remembered the events in Kamen Rider Spirits in which dressed up as Skull Rider (A probable homage to Ishinomori’s Skull Man) and fights the Bat Man who is turning kids into his own kind. There is no minute that I saw Taki being a badass. When I first watch the film I was like, “All right Taki! I know you are a badass so please, stop impressing the new generation about how badass you are!” Seriously, there is no scene in this film that you can see Taki Kazuya acting like a badass.

I first saw Tachibana Tobei on Kamen Rider Amazon (Will write a review about it soon.), and when I first saw him there, he felt like he was a mentor figure to the Riders, and I was right. In the scene in which Hongo, no Kamen Rider is losing hope in defeating Lizardron, Tachibana pops out of nowhere and gave Kamen Rider words of encouragement to not give up the fight and continue his training.

Since Ruriko did a minor role in this film, I will skip her.

Takeshi Hongo, Kamen Rider 1, he was awesome. Based on what I remembered, back in the show’s early days, Hiroshi Fujioka does the stunt work for his character’s alter ego, Kamen Rider but because of some injury, he left the series for a while and Kamen Rider 2 came into picture. Anyways, I love the stunts in the first film! Sure, it was episode 13 in widescreen but still, the ’71 stunt work was great. The only disappointment I have in Hongo here is that we always see him in his suit and we saw him less out of it.

As for Lizardron, few words he is basically his classic human jerk self except that because of Shocker’s brainwashing, he is serving them. I love the fact that he insulted his fellow Inhumanoids that they are losers in which ironically he lost at the very end of the film with a bang.

This is the first time I saw Shocker’s Leader… well only heard his voice but not seen him. Even in that state, its Leader has this omniscient presence around the base that will send chills to your spine. He is mysterious, likes to operate in the shadows but even with that state, you know he is there, watching the chess pieces of his chessboard as he tries to create plans to dominate the world and defeat Kamen Rider on the way. Because of this, I was disappointed that Tsukasa on Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs. DaiShocker never had this same feeling like that of the Leader. It makes me think that Tsukasa is not the real Leader of DaiShocker but there is someone behind him who is operating behind the shadows, kinda like how the Great Leader in Kamen Rider Amazon did it.

For the final battle, it felt like a classic action film, which it is that is why the film was great. It was not flashy like most Heisei Kamen Rider films are, and the plot is direct to point since they only have a few minutes for the film. Which is one of the disappointments in this film, the film is too short, add the fact that it is just the theatrical version of episode 13, it felt like the producers and writers never think of a plot worthy to be seen in theaters.

Overall, the film was a decent start on the franchise’s film series. It was not boring nor was the plot forced to fit on a 25-minute running time. Even with minor disappointments, the film is enjoyable to watch.

Who have ever thought that this humble film ushered many films, a sub film franchise thanks to the Kamen Rider Den-O films and TOEI serving us at least four Rider films per season.

Like I said earlier, the film is a classic superhero film and is quite enjoyable to watch. Being a guy who never watched the other 97 episodes (Cannot watch the other 97 because it is not subbed) of the original series, I enjoyed the film even if I barely watched the entire thing. If you want a classic Japanese superhero film for you to enjoy, this film is for you.
