The plot for the upcoming live action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic cyberpunk manga anime, Akira, have been revealed. The summary was posted on Acting Auditions, an employment resource for actors, official site:
Kaneda is a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan who is stunned when his brother, Tetsuo, is abducted by government agents led by The Colonel.
Desperate to get his brother back, Kaneda agrees to join with Ky Reed and her underground movement who are intent on revealing to the world what truly happened to New York City thirty years ago when it was destroyed. Kaneda believes their theories to be ludicrous but after finding his brother again, is shocked when he displays telekinetic powers.
Ky believes Tetsuo is headed to release a young boy, Akira, who has taken control of Tetsuo's mind. Kaneda clashes with The Colonel's troops on his way to stop Tetsuo from releasing Akira but arrives too late. Akira soon emerges from his prison courtesy of Tetsuo as Kaneda races in to save his brother before Akira once again destroys Manhattan island, as he did thirty years ago.
Acting Auditions listed the following actors and actresses as having been cast in the film; however, the website provided no source for the news:
Filming us said to start on February of next year and slated to be released on 2013.

yes, dragon ball sucked and last airbender was a cinematic fail; still, there is always a chance that either this 'akira' could be actually something good... or at the very least, so bad it's fun.
personally, i'll be happy with either one.
for now, i'll remain skeptically optimistic.

nothing good comes out from Hollywood taking on anything Anime or Manga and making it into a live action movie. This is gonna flop.
Trailer?? The plot notes and trailer is exactly how I knew any movie would flop over the last 5 years, and this will flop, unless Hollywood forces a bunch of deaf/blind people to watch it at Gunpoint.

I don't know why so many people hate on the Dragonball movie, I actually enjoyed it, it could have been a lot worse, and it's better than the first live action dragonball movie from what was it late 80's?

1.80's had actual goku who knew his way around the forest,played with monkies,fought animals like the crocodile.
2.had yamcha who knew how to fight,who was almost on par with goku,had a talking pet.
3.they actually had master roshis house on an actual island in the middle of nowhere with a turtle,

...forget the plot changes, with some decent tweaks I could maybe live with it, but Stewart? Hedlund? Dude I'd rather watch Keanu lead this movie as he wanted to at one point!
