Capcom's popular video game franchise Sengoku Basara will have its first live-action series to be entitled, “Sengoku Basara -Moonlight Party-” starting next month! The series was first adapted into two anime series and a movie.
Actor/singer GACKT (New Fist of the North Star, Kamen Rider Decade) will star as the tyrant Oda Nobunaga (right); Kento Hayashi (Arakawa Under the Bridge) as the six-sword wielder, Date Masamune (center); and, Kouhei Takeda (Hana Kimi, Kamen Rider Kiva) as spearman. Sanada Yukimura (left).
GACKT will contribute the ending theme song “Hakuro.” The show will premiere on July 12th on MBS, and will run late night, every Thursday at 1:25 a.m. (or early Friday morning). The drama will proceed to the BS-TBS channel later in September.
Update: Hidenori Tokuyama (Kamen Rider Kabuto, Hana Kimi 2012) was added into the cast as Masamune's loyal retainer, Kojuro Katakura.

Sengoku Basara is crazy awesome in the video games and the anime...Im wondering how will it turn out on live action adaptation.

Gackt as Nobunaga... he looks so in character even if he is just posing.. and his facial expression for the shot makes his part as Nobunaga all so real.. Could get very interesting

This will be interesting to watch. I know that Takeda-san will do a good job as Yukimura. He's excellent at wacky characters (Otoya from Kiva being a prime example). Gackt-san as Oda shouldn't be too bad, he pretty awesome at dead seriousness. My only beef is with Hayashi-san as Date. I really feel that they could have chosen a better suited actor but just went with it after getting Gackt-san.
With Arisue Mayuko and Iwanaga Hiroaki joining the cast, this is fast looking epic.
I think Gackt role as Nobunaga in the live action would be good...
Tokuyama-san would make a better Date I think. Every role he's done has been that I've seen has been very errogant and he's english isn't that bad. I don't think that Hayashi-san will make a good Date, maybe he'd be a good Katakura.
Man this will be so awesome! I saw the Stage Show 2009 and it blew me away so even if is with other actors I believe Capcom won't mess this up (they know what they are doing for this series...other than bringing the games out for others to enjoy them >3> ) I just wonder how Gackt is going to handle all the craziness. I know Nobunaga doesn't do a lot of action but still...either way I can wait to see this!
