The adventure manga author Akira Toriyama confirms in the 33rd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that the upcoming Dragon Ball Z anime film will be a part of the official Dragon Ball story.
The new film will took place right after the final battle against Majin-Buu (Chapter 517: A Happy Ending... And Then...), and before the 10 year timeskip (Chapter 518: 10 Years After). It was considered as the manga, and anime's "lost decade". Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, and other familiar characters will appear in the film.
The film will be directed by Masahiro Hosoda (Dragon Ball Z episode director) at Toei and written by Yuusuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz), with Tadayoshi Yamamuro (Dragon Ball Movie 4: The Path to Power, Beet the Vandel Buster) acting as the lead animation director. Manga author Akira Toriyama will be deeply involved in the production.
The film's production committee includes Fox International Productions Japan Shueisha, Fuji TV, Toei Animation, Bandai, and Bandai Namco Games. It will be slated for March 30, 2013 release.

That took and take thing stood out to me badly, which is the only reason why I chose to point it out.
On that note, "takes" is the more appropriate verb of the word instead of "take". But hey.. like I care?

this is not a great idea in my view -first they totally trashed the series with the gt series second even before that it was getting bad -the only good thing to come out recently is team four stars abridged series -its just the characters are so over power -and got that way so early in the series that anything that they have to fight doesn't make any sense any more.
I just think the series peaked during the frieza arch and anything after thats just over kill
Dragonball was about light-hearted kooky adventures, and Dragonball Z has always been about epic battles. Holding the show to any reasonable degree of standards in terms of story design, characters, etc. is just silly. It's going to be a fun movie with characters we know pretty well and haven't changed since our respective childhoods.

That's pre Dragon Ball and this set post Dragon Ball Z, they could probably do one but we'll have to wait and see.
It's about time we get an official follow-up after all those stupid Dragon Ball AF and Dragon Ball Hoshi hoaxes. I just wish they'd do a film or OAV with Pan and Bra having an adventure where they become Super Saiyans.

I have a feeling that this movie is not going to be that good. Look at son goku and his friends return that movie was disappointing af. Gt was stupid they didn't do anything with it and most of the villains were fucking retarded. Trunks and goten didn't fuse it's like AT doesn't know what the fuck he is doing with the series. He really fucked up with the majin buu saga it wasn't even that good. He could make the show raw af but idk. Dont get me wrong DBZ is the shit but I just think AT could've dine a better job with what he put out. Also the new bardock movie that sucked ass. Yeah bardock was a killa SS but the story/movie itself was just horrible and the villain. This movie better be fuckin good being that AT is making us wait for it's release.
