The character designer for the recent “Lupin III - The Woman Called Fujiko Mine” anime series, Takeshi Koike, had drawn a crossover picture between Fujiko and Steven Soderbergh's Haywire film to promote the movie, which premieres September 28th in Japan.
Meanwhile, original Lupin III manga creator, Monkey Punch half-jokingly asked for Soderbergh to direct the proposed live-action Hollywood film version of the manga/anime series, back in 2006. Steven Soderbergh was also the director of the Ocean's Eleven remake.
If ever it will become true, no one can tell...
The 1974 film “Strange Psychokinetic Strategy” was the first Lupin III theatrical feature. It was a live-action movie wherein Lupin wore a white jacket with an ascot and features slapstick humor and physics-defying stunts. In 2007, it was also loosely adapted in the Philippines as a tv series entitled "Lupin".
