The official website of the live-action adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin manga and anime had revealed that the film's Bly-Ray and DVD release is schedule for December release.
The Rurouni Kenshin film will be released in both Deluxe Edition and Regular Edition Blu-Ray and DVD on December 26th. The regular edition contains event videos, trailers, and character PVs. It costs 2980 yen for the DVD, and 3990 for the Blu-ray.
Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition also contains the extras the Regular Edition had, with an addition of deleted scenes, interviews with casts, an outer box, digipack, a booklet, and a copy of the film's script. It costs 5985 yen for the DVD, and 6930 yen for the Bklu-Ray.
In addition, the YouTube channel of Japanese online store ASmart had posted a video of lead actor Takeru Sato announcing the home video release of Rurouni Kenshin, along with a full trailer for the film.
The film headlines Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O) as the titular samurai Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei (Taira no Kiyomori) as Kaoru Kamiya, Yuu Aoi (Hana and Alice, Honey and Clover) will play Megumi Takani, with Munetaka Aoki (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) as Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka will take on the role of Yahiko Myōjin aka Yoshi.
The film debuted at the top of Japan Box Office when it premiered in Japan on August 25th. It also has been seen in theaters more than 2 million times, earning over 2.5 billion yen (about US$32.1 million) after 27 days!
