It's been like nearly two years since we heard about the anime adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN manga series. And now, it is finally slated for 2014 release! The manga itself is a retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam 1979 anime series.
Written by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN is a re-imagination of Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise's first Mobile Suit Gundam series. Although similar to the anime series, Yasuhiko have done some changes and additional scenes, including the backstory of the Gundam universe.

So we basically have to wait like two years really since most gundam shows if it is going to be a tv series air in the fall

But, WHY 2014? Why not this year??
Hmm... Will it be OVA series or tv show??? I really can't choose which I like the most... OVA are good because they have a tendency to be more adult/mature, have no censor, stick more to the origina material, it has more fidelity, and also, the quality of the product, gra[hics, draws, animation, everything is well done, beautifully made! But OVAs take a long time between episodes releases... Which is very painful... >_<
TV show is fast, we got one episode a week, but it is made in a rush that prevents it of applying the most advanced and even innovative animation and drawing techniches... Producing lacks the time to spent on details and finally, it always will aim for a bigger audience, so the shows ten to be lighters to attract all kind of audience...
Anyway, can't wait to live again the one year war with amazing animation, full hd, upgraded classic mobile suits and yet, see the new stuff and changes that will make the UC universe even more deep and coherent!!
THen maybe some more years down we will have a Z Define anime? :P
the question for us fans is if the original voice actors for both Amuro Ray (Toru Furuya) and Char Aznable (Shuichi Ikeda) will return to voice their beloved characters or a new set of talent.
We've already got MS Gundam anime TV series, why remake it again in TV format?
So, I prefer it to be made in OVA format. Just look at the quality of Unicorn. I want it to at least be the same quality, if not higher, as Unicorn.
