“009 RE:Cyborg” Film Gets UK Screening


Anime Limited announces that they have acquired the video, digital and theatrical rights in the UK and Republic of Ireland, for the 3D film adaptation of popular classic manga, Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori, 009 Re:Cyborg.

Screening in both 2D and 3D, in Japanese with English subtitles, it will be coming to UK this Spring 2013 – making it the one of the first places outside of Asia you will be able to see the film on theatrical release.


Production I.G and SANZIGEN Animation Studio are co-producing the project, and the Japanese film distributor T-Joy will release the film. Kenji Kamiyama is both directing and scripting the story of the new film, which will be set in the year 2013. He also revealed that the film will act as a sequel to the original manga.

The film debuted at the eighth spot of the Japanese Box Office Weekend, earning 69,815,300 Yen (US$873,319) with 41,901 viewers.
