Power Rangers Megaforce Opening

Airing today, here's the opening sequence of the new Power Rangers season, Power Rangers Megaforce. The song used was first heard at the Bandai of America Megaforce page.

Power Rangers Megaforce features Gosei, a supernatural guardian, who protected the Earth for centuries along with his robotic aide, Tensou. During the massive invasion of the evil Warstar aliens, Gosei calls upon five teenagers with attitude to form the ultimate team... the Power Rangers Megaforce!

So, We got theme song similar to samurai which is reference to MMPR, go go megaforce as oppose to go go samurai, shouting their names in opening like samurai, and their slogan earth's defenders never surrender which is similar to ranger together samurai forever.

Is this really an anniversary for all of power rangers or just samurai?

If i sound bitter then sorry just samurai lasted too long and overanalzying.

dispite keeping the lame nameing themselfs bit i think the opening is much better than samurai's

  3. I'm actually fond of the intro. Plus the episode was a good start. I look forward to see how Megaforce beats Goseiger.

The pink ranger Emma is so sexy and hot.

  5. Anonymous Says:

I cringed when they started calling their names in the title screen, just as i cringed during the Samurai title screen. You don't need to say your names, we can read. We dont want your high pitched voices ruin the theme song, we're just gonna hear em for the rest of the show...

Megaforce to be the bad PR program of all time, due for editing scenes

In the beginning of opening,Alata can be seen when the Gosei Red card is inserted in Tensouder

  7. WillowWisp Says:

OK, I will admit that, considering that this is the 20th anniversary, it isn't THAT bad having it as an MMPR rehash. If I was to complain about anything, it would be that I wish they didn't have to have each Ranger say their names in the opening.

I think it would've been fine just showing their names, and it kinda feels like they're not really respecting the intelligence of the audience. It's like "You're probably too illiterate to read their names, so we'll just have them say it for you" Seriously now?

Here's hoping that this is the last time this'll happen, AND it will be the last piece by Noam Kaniel. I'm sure the guy has talent, but I'd like to see it before I believe it.

So I'm hearing good things about Megaforce. Unfortunately I missed the episode but I'm hoping to catch a replay later on.

Anyway... Anyone else bummed they kept the calling out of the name on the opening credits from Samurai? Nothing big. Just a little cheesy.

  9. Anonymous Says:

I really like the opening. sure the song is a bit similar to last season's, but the tempo and bass is up, and the way they say megaforce is cool. it does what any opening should do: make you pumped up for watching an action adventure show.

  10. Anonymous Says:

Anybody notice the first Super Sentai group in the opening????

  11. Anonymous Says:

No matter how you look at it you see Alata or his jacket at least in the begining how will they explain that

  12. Anonymous Says:

well done, this is a good reflection for our 20 years and a good op made to recognize that it is, i figured it would be noam kaniel again and good job by him as he put significantly more feeling into this go around.

The first episode: Not bad. It has some faults, like the red ranger seems lame when compared to the other cast members. And the episode felt somewhat rushed. I watched only 2 or 3 episodes of Samurai, and a few minutes of Goseiger's first episode, so my expectations were low. I enjoyed it, but it's still much too early to judge the series (but that won't stop *some* of you).

Anyway, if interested (because like Samurai I doubt Mega Force will be posted here) here's a link to episode 1.

Ok, is it time for us to realize Saban doesn't care about the series anymore? We are basically going to deal with the Samurai theme for the next two years... that means 4 years of the same song.

Hell DISNEY at least changed it up every year. I know its just episode one... I know its Goseiger... but really?

I have to even look at the disaster that is Goseiger for another 2 years?!

PS: I think Zordon has the last laugh as he stuck "Plan B" with the Goseiger powers while there are PLENTY of better teams just standing there.

  15. Anonymous Says:

first thing, as the theme tune goes, i don't mind it for this series, but as such i think they should have done something more original for samurai scince that was not an aniversary series.

second, for those saying you don't need to say the name's we can reed, well for those of us that stuck with it for 20 year's yes, but the avarege age range of the target audience of power rangers probably can't read very well, i couldn't when i started watching back in the mid 90's.

  16. I like how a lot of people treat Goseiger better than it actually is.... GUYS, that first episode of Goseiger went nowhere REALLY FAST. I also like how a lot of people probably didn't watch the first episode.

    to anon above me:

Well hopefully they find a way to make it so it isn't like samurai american watered down shinkengers.

Yes goseigers wasn't good but before that was the point of power rangers, to get a different story say for wild force and time force.

While im personally have really low expectations im hoping the second season when they try to slice together gokaiger with this it makes a halfway decent original story.

For any fans out there that can't distiguish that power rangers and super sentai are two different shows, i just want to say that just becuase goseiger is bad doesn't mean megaforce will be bad. they could potentially improve some aspect or at the very least make you think back on goseigers and be like wow maybe i was a little harsh. second, when super megaforce comes out, mainly cuz we all love gokaigers so much, i think w/e theyre doing is better for us mainly cuz we all try to make power rangers live up to their super sentai counterpart by wanting it to be jsut like their japanese counterpart. it doesn't work usually case and point shinkengers and samurai. If super megaforce flops its cuz saban sucks.

now i am going to watch ciara hanna be the yellow power rangers.

You guys can go back to hating megaforce samurai, and goseigers now and talk about how much they ruin gokaigers for super megaforce

the "power rangers megaforce" in the song reminds me of "power rangers lost galaxy"

  20. Anonymous Says:

above comment guy is right, plus how is saban going to explain the legendary war because there is more rangers. and they are probably going to say that the other super sentai are gods or something and have that war be megaforce last episode before messing up gokaiger.

  21. Anonymous Says:

obviously thats not the same actor that played ernie in mmpr that guy died awhile back from what i heared.

  22. Anonymous Says:

well this series is going to suck.im just going to be sticking with super sentai from now on.saban has lost their great quailty of their shows over the years.the shows are just as bad as when disney owned the rights to pr

HOLY FUCKING SHIT ERNIE IS BACK!"

I thought the same thing but this Ernie is a bald Hispanic guy

i'm guessing the name and the face that he owns a smoothie shop is a callback

    anon above me:

When disney owned PR they weren't that bad. For a cheesy kid show, Disney era Pr, at least most of them, were still fun to watch. My opinion, though not to step on yours, is that since PR been taken back by Saban its worse than the disney era.

True saban only got PR back and had it for 2 Pr season and we don't know where megaforce is going. Even if you compare samurai to any one disney era, bad or good, at leas tthe disney era cast seem to be more dynamic.

A pro for megaforce currently is that the rangers, exccpet for troy, has personalities.

Probably as older fans or fans who discover sentai,we're going to lose our child like wonder of PR. If most of us came from watch first era of Saban its only natural that we hate disney era for being cheesy and not as good mainly cuz we were older and maybe teenagers at that point.

Maybe for older fan Sentai should be the only thing we watch due to that since sentai is the original they can come up with stories and film to fit it and the fact that toei doesnt seem like they have to make it super cheesy. Disney and Saban are cheap, they dont want to film anymore than they have to. PR, sorry PR fans, can't live up to Sentai if they keep trying to fit their cheesy story into footage of sentai and have to film more original footage.

here a decent example: Kamen rider Ryuki and Dragon Knight. If anybody watch those, they would know theyre both different and have pro and cons that separates them. whether you think Ryuki was better or wrose than dragon knight, you can tell the shows apart. In general, PR ideas aren't out the box maybe they hit the edge but usually thats it.

IF we want PR to live up to its former glory of how awesome it was than we're already at fault cuz PR was cheesy and will be cheesy cuz that how it is. We've just been watching different flavors with different settings.

We want Better than Saban has to stop being cheap and that probably wont happen.

We don't know how megaforce will be. They have the ground up goseiger story smoothie and splice in gokaiger for super megafroce. This could potentially be a decent original story.

Wow i jumped around a lot okay suymmarizing: MMPR nostalgia factor wasn't that good ppl try watching it again its so hard ( as with most PR from when we were kidlets), Stop bashing disney era they weren't that bad trying marathoning all of PR you can see that some were great, sentai fan stop bashing PR for sucking and bash the owners for being so cheap and finally second saban era stop being cheap film more orignal footage, and seriosuly lose the smaurai gags.

Haters you can continue hating now. end rant

After just one episode? The FIRST episode? Lol okay. Bye, bye. You won't be missed. I'm going to watch a few more before I make that decision. I actually enjoyed that first episode, it made me feel a little nostalgic.

  27. Anonymous Says:

I definitely agree about the cheesyness of shouting their names in the opening. I mean come on, really saban? But other than that, this opening is way better than what samurai had to offer.

  28. Anonymous Says:

Judging the show from the opening and the first episode and declaring it sucks? Yeah guys that makes perfect sense. Give it a few episodes to get some more characterization and plot going before declaring it sucks.

  29. Anonymous Says:

Personally I kinda like it. I know its a smidge cheesy and really it tries to hard to play homages to the original mighty morphing series but at least their trying to make fans happy because I assure you no six year old is gonna get any of these allusions unless their parents and or older siblings are watching it with them to point out and explain things, this truly is a show for the family, providing fun and high speed action for children while simultaneously providing nostalgia for anyone who remembered and cherished the series that started it all, so despite the cheese factor I enjoy this show.

  30. Anonymous Says:

i just saw dairangers and maskman in the first episode :))

  31. Anonymous Says:

Con't help to wonder if they are going to explain MM Green Ranger, MM White Ranger, and Zeo Red Ranger in the same great war, along with the other founding rangers that were at least 2 colors?

  32. Anonymous Says:

I've seen the first episode. and honestly.... it's verrrryyy good.....

it's not perfect but i like this much better than goseiger.

    nuff said.

    my opinion anyway....

  33. Stalker Fairy Says:

Well...they kept the lame "I'm gonna shout out my name because you people are too dumb to read the big words on the screen" thing.

That being said, I liked the first 8 or so seconds of the song. Had potential....then they went back to another remix of the MM theme OTL

That, and the intro has WAY too many spoilers.
    Burajira and GoseiGround? Seriously?

  34. Anonymous Says:

there are actually numerous ways in Power rangers history they can explain the multiple rangers.

    1. Time pluck. In Operation Overdrive's Once a Ranger he claimed he plucked the "replacement rangers" from different time periods. This was mostly used to explain why trip was there as SPD Red, but could be used again by gosei, sentinel knight, or a deus ex machina. This especially works with Tommy (who aside from MMPR Green, MMPR White, and Zeo Red is also DT Black) as they can reward long time fans by mentioning that a Green Ranger Tommy created by Rita was actually left back in time in the Colonial era.

    2. Android Rangers. An episode of Turbo saw Justin deal with Android imposters of the rangers. While at first he thought they were evil, it turned out to be a contingency project worked out by the others that he was unaware of. (as to why he was left unaware will have to leave unanswered, like how there is breathable atmosphere on the moon in power rangers.) There is of course Mack of Operation Overdrive also being an Android. They can have either group, or together, claim they worked on a project allowing temporary androids of the double-duty (or in tommy's case quadruple duty) for a limited time.

    3. Spirit Rangers: Even in gokaiger they admit the powers are copied pirated versions of the originals. In Jungle Fury Disney added 3 additional rangers as Spirit Rangers, probably for marketing and toy reasons. The rangers spoke but never unmorphed, cause they were just spirits called upon when needed. Whatever power maguffin they may or may not use to explain how these rangers got powers back at all, can also be used to explain that certain rangers can morph multiple times and have "spirit rangers"

    4. Ranger Allies are Temporary Rangers

I doubt they'll do this cause i have a hard time believing they'll get a great portion of the entire PR cast back (even sentai didn't/couldnt bring back more than about 35-50 former cast members over the course of gokaiger) let alone all the side characters, but there are enough side characters from different seasons that can be used as rangers. even leaving out bulk and skull (which i'd be find with, if they can have a kid "grow" into a ranger body and a dog's snout disappear into a helmet, they can do a quick animation showing his body shrinking into a ranger's body) there are more than enough characters they can use from previous seasons.

personally, i doubt PR will address it. Historically they've shown an uncaring to really follow up on those type of plot questions, like why in Forever Red Jason, Tommy, and TJ were able to morph at all when all 3 powers were lost. i wouldnt be shocked if even in the clips of the legend war you dont even hear grunts and i expect any returns will be limited to Samurai and maybe a handful of other characters, probably jason david frank and johnny bosch.
