Live Action Gatchaman Film's First Promo


After months of waiting, the official website for the live-action film adaptation of the classic sci-fi animeScience Ninja Team Gatchaman” started streaming its first promo! Check out the awesome suits after the jump.


The five serve as agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo in the near future. Galactor, a mysterious group whose technology far surpasses that of humans, has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it. A mysterious crystal-like object called a "stone," is humanity's only hope. Those who are able to draw out the power of the "stones" are forced to train to become special agents in a five-person team called "Gatchaman."

Tori Matsuzaka will play the role of Ken Washio, the team leader and tactical expert. Also included in the cast are Go Ayano (Kamen Rider 555, Rurouni Kenshin) as second-in-command marksman and weapons expert Jō Asakura; Ayame Goriki (Mirai Nikki, IS) as the electronics and demolitions expert Jun; Tatsuomi Hamada (Ultraman Zero, Gokaiger vs Gavan) as the youngest and reconnaissance expert Jinpei; and, Ryōhei Suzuki (Hana Kimi) as Ryū Nakanishi, the ship's pilot.

Directed by Toya Sato (Kaiji, Gokusen), with screenplay by Yūsuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz, Bloody Monday, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods), Gatchaman premieres August 24th.

  2. Okay, I like the full-face visor-helmets than the bird beaked visor of the original. Makes a whole lot more sense

  3. well i expected them to have armor like suits due the fact that Shinji Aramaki Was involved with the project. they luckily don't look as horrible as the Imagi version. still dissapointed that they don't look somewhat similair to the older suits (i wasn't exptecting it either). again I'm Hoping that Yuusuke Watanabe will deliver a great story for this movie. and that the director would direct a decent action movie.

  4. Also one thing i have to add, the trailer reminds me of the style that the tv drama bloody monday had. which means the trailer implies a action driven story that doesn't rely too much on action scene's which means the story itself will or should not have a boring moment.
