AKB48's "Koisuru Fortune Cookie": 1 Million Copies Sold, Tops Weekly Charts


With over 1 million copies sold at the first day, it's no wonder that idol group AKB48's 32nd singleKoisuru Fortune Cookie” tops Oricon's weekly ranking with a total of 1,330,000 copies sold.

This is the group's 2nd consecutive single (5th single in total) to sell over a million copies on the first day , with “Sayonara Crawl” (May 2013) sold 1,451,000 copies on the first day! Other singles that sold over a million copies on the first day include “Flying Get” (August 2011), “Kaze wa Fuiteiru” (October 2011), and “Manatsu no Sounds good!” (May 2012).

“Koisuru Fortune Cookie” is also AKB48's 13th consecutive million-selling singles (14th single in total). They are currently tied with B'z's record, with Mr. Children on 3rd with 8 consecutive singles.


The single is now the 5th first-week top-selling single by the idol group after “Sayonara Crawl” (first week sales: 1,763,000 copies), “Manatsu no Sounds good!” (1,617,000 copies), “Flying Get” (1,354,000 copies), and “Everyday, Kachuusha” (1,334,000 copies).

The idol group also continues to break their own records with 19 consecutive chart topping singles, and having sold over 23,378,000 copies of their singles, the best record for a female artist.
