Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger 10 Years After Sales Report

Last August 9th was the home video release of the recent Hurricaneger V-Cinema, “Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger: 10 Years After”. Oricon reports that the film sold at least 3,649 copies on both DVD and Blu-Ray Discs.

The Blu-Ray release of Hurricaneger V-Cinema debuted at #14 selling 2,494 copies, while the DVD release ranked #42 by selling 1,155 copies. Will this warrant another V-Cinema release on an older series? Only TOEI can tell...

A space ninja group initiate mysterious bombings around the world. Nanami and Kouta followed the series of incidents, but were surprised to see a familiar figure appearing before them!

Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger: 10 Years After V-Cinema is directed by Katsuya Watanabe, with scripts from Hurricaneger's head writer Junichi Miyashita. Pre-order now at CDJapan and get exciting bonuses!

So, for sentai...is this a good (very good?) number for a not currently airing series?

im a big fan of hurricaneger and i would have liked to have bought the collectors blu-ray version but it was very expensive.if the dvd and blu-ray versions would have been cheaper im sure they would have sold a lot more copies than what they did.i know once an english subbed version is released i can get it for much cheaper.

I don't know if this these sales are above of what Toei wanted, but either way I would love to see more sentai v cinema specials. Maybe a Battle Fever J reunion or abaranger. The possibilities are endless.

It's only been released for a couple of days. I'd wait a month then revisit the sales numbers to make any sort of judgement.

I'd say those are terrible numbers.

Uhhmm... I guess it only works for other title if the actors from those past series are still passionate about the sentai world, so let's not hope too much.

Some of the few teams that will probably have a chance of returning would be Magiranger, Megaranger, Dekaranger, Gingaman, Gaoranger... that is if they are able to bring back some of their actors from retirement. The ones unlikely to happen would be Timeranger, unless they cast another red.

Oh and this Hurricaneger's reunion was also made possible with the fact that the core members (like Nao Nagasawa) are also co-producing the flick, which means they help TOEI to get this done financially. With Nao being in almost every toku shows, I don't think she has a hard time pulling this one through

  7. 14th on Blu seems good to me, especially for an older show's reunion. The DVD ranking is kinda bad, but I'm willing to bet that this film was more for Hurricaneger's original fans (although some new ones were likely made by their appearance in Gokaiger). I think it's fairly decent.

Personally, I would love a Deka reunion. If any show had room for expansion, it's the Space Police.
