Hana Yori Dango Gets US Adaptation, Cast Unveiled

Yoko Kamio's shoujo manga Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers) had been adapted in various media including an anime and live action drama series from different countries. It's now the Americans turn to adapt the bestselling manga, and they promised to stay true to the original.

Wazego Collective started a Kickstarter to fund the adaptation. But even though they failed to reach their goal, they pushed through the project and recently revealed the cast!

To be known as Boys Before Flowers, this adaptation's F4 is comprised of Joseph Almani as Liam Montgomery (Tsukasa Domyouji), Trenton Culkin as Oliver Young (Rui Hanazawa), Napoleon Tavale as Chase Carlton (Sojirou Nishikado), and Jason S. Mordeno as Noah McCallster (Akira Mimasaka). You can check out more of the cast from the official website, minus the lead female, to be named as Zoey, who is still being cast.

PLOT/SUMMARY:
Ellison University is a school that caters to the children from families who are rich, famous, high-society or all of the above. Every year, they hold auditions to accept students who are super talented in different areas and give them a full scholarship to attend the University.

Zoey, a dancer, gets accepted and on her first day, discovers that the school is ruled by a group known as the F4. The members of the F4 come from the most powerful families in the United States and they abuse their power through bullying. Zoey eventually confronts the group after a particularly harsh act and gets on their bad side. The leader of the F4 eventually falls in love with Zoey creating a complicated set of circumstances that creates a classic story that has captured the attention of 23 different countries.
The filming for Boys Before Flowers starts October 21st at Los Angeles. The series is scheduled to air on Late 2013 on Roku Channel.

Wow that's awesome news eventhough I never could stand the Taiwan and/or the Korean live version.
I simply hope the story will be tweaked a little considering the culture difference between Japan (or other Asia countries) and the US.
I wonder how many season this show will last XD

suddenly i just remembered Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills. They're from exclusive school, they're rich...oh never mind. I worry about the demographics since they have to change(Western culture and such)which is unlikely to their Asian counterparts. And some Japanese movies that turned into Hollywood remakes were notoriously bad,y'know what i mean.

According to the makers, they are just doing one season of 16 episodes. They did a sort of Q&A on MDL, which is also where they announced the cast first. Check it out for more info!

another bad side of Hana Yori Dango now invades by the US side, and another thing that will say by the masses that "this is better than the original" reminds of prominent Super Sentai and Power Rangers comparison
