Shunya Shiraishi Leads "Higanjima" Live Action TV Series


Coming this October 24th is the live action TV adaptation of Kōji Matsumoto's survival horror manga Higanjima: Saigo no 47 Himei. The drama series will be led by Kamen Rider Wizard's Shunya Shiraishi as Akira Miyamoto, a teen looking for his lost brother.

Main cast includes Ryohei Suzuki (Gatchaman, Hentai Kamen) as Atsushi Miyamoto, Rio Yamashita (Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto) as Yuki, Megumi Sato (L change the WorLd) as Rei, and Rui Kurihara (Daily Lives of High School Boys) as the vampire Miyabi. Other cast members comprise of Yuya Endo (Nodame Cantabile), Yukito Nishii (Wolf Children), Shōhei Abe, Ayame Misaki (Cutie Honey, Go-Busters), Yūga Yamato, Shingo Tsurumi (Kamen Rider Fourze), and Katsunobu.


The original Higanjima manga follows the story of Akira, who is in search for his lost brother, Atsushi, who went missing for 2 years. A mysterious woman appeared in front of him and told him that she can bring him to Higanjima island where she saw Atsushi. But she also asked that he should brings a few more friends there...

Helming the series is Takashi Miike (Ace Attorney, Ninja Kids) as the chief director, with Kenichiro Nishiumi and Takeshi Yokoi are serving as directors, and Masaru Nakamura (Sukiyaki Western Django) handles the scripts. Ai and Honey LDays will be performing the opening theme song "Top of the World," and the ending theme "Namida no You ni Sui to Ietara", respectively.


Additionally, the animation studio Kamikaze Douga (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Gatchaman Crowds opening) is animating the series' opening video. Junpei Mizusaki directed the video, and Hirofumi Seo directed the internal body CG at Sciement.

Higanjima premieres October 24th on MBS and TBS.

    The actor from Kamen Rider Wizard has transitioned from fighting Phantoms to monsters (vampires, warewolves etc.)
