Haruma Miura to Star in the Upcoming Attack on Titan Live-Action Film

AMUSE Entertainment's Miura Haruma has been reported to star in the live-action film adaptation of Isayama Hajime's popular manga Attack on Titan by the Japanese daily newspapers.

According to the paper, Miura has started preparing himself as the filming begins early this summer which would be located at Hashima Island in Nagasaki. It is known as Gunkanjima or "Battlefield Island" for its landscape. Even so, neither his role nor who are the people he's going to work with is yet to be revealed added to the fact that the plot of the film is still unknown. Though Miura has missed an event last March 30 because of poor health, it has been reported that he is doing well now and has been working again.

Attack on Titan is currently being serialized on Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Generally, the story is about the battle between humans and giants that rules the world into which they were separated by huge protective walls as to protect humankind from these monsters.

Together with the manga's original author Isayama, the film's staff will be adding new elements as they base the story and characters of the original manga. Scenario writer Watanabe Yusuke (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, live-action Gantz, Gantz II: Perfect Answer, 20th Century Boys, Gatchaman) and film critic Tomohiro Machiyama would be writing the script while storyboarder and special effects director Higuchi Shinji (Heisei era Gamera films) would be the one to direct the film. With this, the film is scheduled to open sometime in 2015.

In addition, Higuchi has already given a shot for a scene on a Attack on Titan Live-Action Subaru Forester commercial:
