It's 2015 and it's time for another batch of images featuring the newest Super Sentai team, Shuriken Sentai Ninninger! After feasting your eyes on the superb images, read the information about the plot for the series.

Three generations had passed since the man named Yoshitaka Igasaki, the Last Ninja sealed the evil Yokai. Time has passed and claimed the Last Ninja's life and with his death, the Yokai are freed once again. With the Last Ninja gone, the only individuals that can stop the Yokai are his Descendants, students of the Ninjutsu Dojo. Guided by their master, Tsumuji Igasaki, the five cousins will band together and use their powers to transform into the Ninningers and defend the earth from the Yokai.

The series is written by Kento Shimoyama (writer of random episodes for Goseiger, Gokaiger, Go-Buster), produced by Naomi Takebi (kamen Rider Gaim, Go-Buster) and will be directed by Shojiro Nakazawa (Kamen Rider Wizard, ToQger) and will air this February 15.

    What?
    Summary plot similiar to Shinkenger...
    Wtf

I'm not buying that whole "occasional writer for Goseiger". This dude was part of the team which mean we are in trouble. Same goes for the Director. That guy is part of that craptastic ToQger. I am having mixed emotions about this.

The plot is more similar to Kakuranger.

    Don't you mean Kakuranger?

    Kakuranger

Two millennia ago, the Youkai served under Daimaou and terrorized humans before he was sealed away by the three holy men that became the Sanshinshou. As a result, the Youkai began acting on their own before they are united under Nurarihyon prior him their powers being sealed away 400 years ago by the Kakurangers' ancestors

A family. A dragon combination in the mecha. A plot to "finish" the job. A dumptruck. Trains as feet.

    So, all in all: Magiranger + Shinkenger + Boukenger + Goseiger/Toqger = 2015 sentai.

I'm actually already in love with the series. The concept is easy to comprehend, so the story should progress nicely.
My only wish is that the weapons didn't look to ridiculous. I mean flames? Ah well, still looking forward to it.

  7. Jeist Says:

Pretty close to the plot of Kakurangers as well but it will depend on how they execute the premise, Shinkenger took itself as serious as it could, while this one probably won't

  8. Anonymous Says:

is this the actual plot or just fan based rumors?

  9. Anonymous Says:

plot is somewhat similar to kakuranger too.

anon 2 you have the right to your opininon but just because you hate a series that doesent mean every one hates it.

  11. Anonymous Says:

5 cousins? i guess that means no love interest this season (unless it involves 6th membr)

  12. K.Utahoshi Says:

The main plot is recycled. And they're at it again with the siblings thing.

Welp, more hopes for the show.

    Hey now ToQget is awesome.
It may have its flaws, but cman iz till very ghood.
At the very least, ToQger has SOME story to follow...not at all like the previous sentai, Daigoger.

  14. Anonymous Says:

As long as it's not bright, bubbly and safe like ToQger then I will be fine.

"ToQger has SOME story to follow"

Pfft yeah okay buddy. A very predictable, boring, bland, unimaginative plot that creeps super slow. Also building characters that you couldn't care less about because they are just as flat and 2 dimensional as characters from lets say for comparison purposes the neo-saban era. And before some white knight, neckbeard circle jerker comes and comments stating that oh so classic cop out "but, but, but it's a kids show Mr. Angry Anon". There are plenty of past Sentai that have an actually GOOD story with 3Dimensional characters that you actually gave a damn about. "Maskman, Jetman, Dairanger, Shinkenger, and Gokaiger" just to name a few. The only decent thing that I can say about Toqger is that once again the villains are good. Which isn't really saying alot. I swear someone you just feel the need to defend absolute garbage.

I fear the future of sentai has become recycled plot/characters/monsters over and over...I have not really felt or seen anything "new" since i dunno? Go-Busters? Even that was borderline...At this point, they should just let any random person write the plots, etc. Because they honestly could not do any worse that this nonsense...God damn shame, it rly, rly is...

I want a really cool looking 6th ranger - maybe 2, or more!
Please... no "extras"... unless the look cool too.. But, I generally don't find extras all that interesting... An example would be GoseiKnight.. who doesn't really look like a knight... no wings either (he's an angel too right?)

I kinda agree on you on some, and don't on some others.

First, the tone of the story of Maskman, Jetman, Dairanger, Shinkenger, and Gokaiger are very different from that of ToQGer. As you know, the tone is someone serious. (I don't actually know about Maskman, Jetman, and Dairanger, but I've watched Shinkenger and Gokaiger.)

Furthermore, the idea of the characters are also completely different. The characters from ToQGer are meant to portrayed as "kids in an adults' bodies". Shinkenger and Gokaiger acted someone adult like, and many prefer it that way. ToQGer literally acted as kids and it's like a bit of a twist, but it's unsettling for most.

Now, I do agree with you on some other things.

First, the story is definitely bland. The theme may be "imagination", but I think the producers didn't think things through. When you think about, the theme "imagination" does sound a bit appealing to kids today. However, HOW DO YOU MAKE A INTERESTING PLOT OUT OF THAT? I mean, with imagination, the show's going to end up too childish (like now). For those who are older, there's no interesting story because the theme makes it impossible to develop one that is worth noticing.

That being said, the villains carry most of the show. As the villains are a contrast to "light" and "imagination", the villains are extremely dark and easier to develop.

For instance, the development of Zed is much better than all of the ToQGers. He's the Emperor of Darkness, yet is intrigued by light. He absorbs Grita and gets the light he wants, yet (until the latest episodes) it seems like he is being weakened.

Throughout the show, Zed had been a character that many like to see. (Plus, the actor has been a bad guy before, as he played Nobunaga in the Kamen Rider OOO's movie.) You gotta admit, he's a big reason why some viewers are still watching.

In addition, there's the under-developed characters, and the over-developed characters. You know who they are.

    Tokatti

IDK how many episodes were focused on him. It's crazy. They want to develop this relationship between Mio and him, but honestly, it's kinda dumb. I'm pretty sure there are more problems with this character, but to sum it up, he's an over-developed wimp who has little importance to the story.

    Hikari

I'm sad this guy didn't have more episodes on him. How many did he get, 4? (And one episode, the focus was shared with another, such as Kagura or Tokatti.) Overall, Hikari has so much potential, but I guess he'll stay under-developed.

As a sentai, ToQGer does not reach the standard set by the past sentai. It lacks a developed story and an uneven distribution of development for each character (for the ToQGers only). The reason lies in the theme. Had it not been "imagination", the sentai may have been extremely interesting. Basically, the producers threw a curveball and it didn't work in their favor.

Now, in your argument, was there really a need to generalize people with "white knight, neckbeard circle jerker comes and comments"?

I mean, I get that some people will defend the franchise with their lives. Like "nothing they do can go wrong". Before, I was kinda the same also (and admittedly now just a bit).

However, people have different taste in entertainment and we should all just let them have their opinions.

That's not saying what you just said was blasphemy. I'm just saying you don't have to start insulting them to get your point across. By insulting them, you want there to be white knights, because there will be some right after with their swords up high ready to fight.

Just a thought lol. Sorry for the wall of text.

WOW I normally don't see anything like this till after the final episode has aired. Being that I can wait till that happens for ToQger. You summary is amazing. Well done. My beef is people say "Stop whinning or stop complaining or if you don't like then don't watch". When the shoe was on the other foot and they were the ones negative point of views about GAIM and Kyoryuger. Nobody told them what they can;t wait to tell us. They are the instigators. Form their minds if you don't like a show, you shouldn't write about it. I'm not sure if it's the same person or a troll but that is annoying. When you want nothing out song and praise for something it is called a "circlejerk". However the name calling has gotten to be too much.

    This isn't "circle-jerking" lol.
I know because I've been on Reddit for a long time now. If you think this is circlejerking, then you need to go to other sites.

I swear, I was a white knight, and loved to defend ToQGer as a Sentai. But now, it's kinda pointless.

It's "Super Sentai", not "Super Villains". When the villains are much more interesting than the actual sentai, it says a lot.

On the other hand, I feel the producers realize this, and are trying to change it. (Spoiler alert coming soon, just warning)

In the couple latest episodes, the ToQGers are basically maturing, and so they may not act so immature as that of in the beginning. With Zed's new evolution, and the ToQGers are actually facing their bleak reality, I have hopes of well thought-out episodes coming up soon.

Finally, I don't like how you phrased "if you don't like a show, you shouldn't write about it." I disagree.

People have to understand this. CRITICISM IS OK. It's a fairly simple concept. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the comment section to be filled with negative comments, but I would feel the same if the section were filled with positive comments.

The fact people who love this Sentai (or any show) try to censor anything negative makes me cringe. I don't know where anyone here lives, but freedom of speech is a thing in America.
