It has been confirmed that the anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima's fantasy adventure manga Fairy Tail will be ending this March 30th, after more than a 3 year run (originally airs October 2009) at TV Tokyo.
The announcement was made through Kodansha's TV Magazine, with the new Driland anime taking Fairy Tail's current timeslot of Saturday 10:30 a.m. timeslot on April 6th. The anime will end its TV run at the 175th episode, "The Face of the Girl I Saw" (その時見た少女の顔は).
Meanwhile, here's a message from Fairy Tail's Mashima via Twitter:
Until the time comes, I cannot say something I've always wanted to say, even on Twitter. Please be patient and wait until the time comes for me to announce some good news.
The current Fairy Tail arc follows the events after reconciling with the Legion and the Zentopia church, Natsu, Lucy, and the others who were frozen in time for seven years on Tenrou Island, return to Magnolia and discover that Sabertooth is the strongest guild in the Fiore Kingdom. Having become the weakest guild during the absence of its core members, Fairy Tail decides to enter the Grand Magic Games, an annual competition to decide Fiore's strongest guild.

will there be season two?
ReplyDeleteWill there be season 2?
ReplyDeleteFairy tail will end with what I call "Bleach syndrome" in the fact that they JUST had a time skip but then they end it. Granted Naruto has been just DRAGGING it on for years.
ReplyDeleteOf course not yet, for now..
ReplyDeleteThe Tv anime is catching up to the manga.. Unless you want those Filler Arc / Filler episode.. So probably need to wait two years or 3 years for Second season.
whoa!! that was surprising, I like the Fairy Tail manga, was the rating not strong enough for it to get the One Piece treatment?
ReplyDeleteGot damn it not again after what happen to katekyo hitman reborn and bleach and now fairy tail too. The anime is catching way too fast with the manga they dont have a choice, but to stop it. At least bring back katekyo hitman reborn its manga is already finished than that piece of s*** driland. They might bring them back in the future thats my theory, so until that time we will have naruto and one piece and some other decent anime.
ReplyDeleteThe series was suppose to end at episode 49 or so, when the Laxus thing ended, but it got high enough ratings to be able to continue, and Mashima wanted to continue the story either way. If the anime is stopping on the 30th, we'll probably see the "last chapter" in then next week or two unless he decides to continue the manga and stop the anime production.
ReplyDeleteOk, Bleach and Reborn ending was one thing, since they finished they're arcs, but WTF, Fairy Tail ends in te middle of an arc!? Why!?
ReplyDeleteI thought is the anime ending only and not the manga?
ReplyDeleteohh man. they are just ....................... i cant take it
ReplyDeleteREALLY?
ReplyDeleteThat's why i hate long running anime . . . Even though i like the series
just like mashima hiro's manga 'RAVE' before.. it got ended in the middle of the arc too..
ReplyDeleteI hope there is another season for this! I really want to see them again with another adventures!
ReplyDeleteI cant wait for the next season!
ReplyDeletebut I cant deny the fact that it really disappointed me.
Argh... just like what happened to D.Gray-Man... WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteNo one said that Fairy Tail manga is ending.
ReplyDeleteIt will continue but anime won't because the anime is catching up to the manga and i personally don't want fillers.
I believe that unfortunately we will have to wait for about a year/two for it have enough manga so that episodes can continue regularly.
That's just my wild guess but manga won't end.
Same thing with Bleach.
Can't wait for Fairy Tail Episode 177
