Live Action "Patlabor" Project Coming 2014
Tohokushinsha Film Corporation announced that a live action adaptation of Headgear's mecha manga and anime Mobile Police Patlabor will be coming our way this 2014. Along with it, the film's official website had been officially launched.
Headgear is composed of director Mamoru Oshii, writer Kazunori Itō, mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, character designer Akemi Takada, and manga artist Masami Yūki. Director Oshii previously declined to comment on a rumor on the manga's live action film adaptation. So far, it has not been announced if the project is a live action TV series or a film.
Set in a futuristic 1998-2002, where robots called "Labors" are employed in heavy construction work. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police has its own fleet of Patlabor robotic police officers to combat crimes and deal with accidents involving Labors. The story focuses on Noa Izumi, a member of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2.
The franchise spun various series including a manga, a TV series, two OVA series, three feature length movies, and a short film compilation, from 1988-2002.

Is there any news for Super Sentai and Kamen Rider? It's been an awful long time since Super Sentai had news, and the only news we've gotten about Kamen Rider was for the game.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for this day! I fell in love with this series when I first found it on the defunct AZN channel and have since then searched through the web for it! This anime is so unique; its practical approach to mecha as a tool for law enforcement and construction as well as military purpose sets itself apart from other mecha anime that I've seen.
ReplyDeletecan't wait next year.
