It has been revealed that actress Ayame Gouriki (Gatchaman) will be joining Hiro Mizushima (Kamen Rider Kabuto) in live action adaptation of the action comedy manga “Kuroshitsuji” (Black Butler). Filming is said to start by next month.
Gouriki will be playing as Shiori Genpō, a descendant of the prestigious aristocratic family Phantomhive, the new master of the Black Butler, Sebastian, played by Mizushima. The film is set 130 years after the original manga, in the year 2020, in an Asian city where Western and Asian cultures freely intermingle. Since only males can take the reins of the family, Shiori dons male clothes and the name Kiyoharu to lead the massive Phantom Corporation.
According to producer Shinzo Matsuhashi, Mizushima was the only Japanese person right for the part and if he can't comply, there wouldn’t be a movie. Finally after meeting with the actor several times, Mizushima accepted.
Directed by Kentaro Otani (NANA) and anime creator Keiichi Sato (Tiger & Bunny), the “Black Butler” live action film is slated to be released early next year.
