After all those rumors about animal sentai, battleships and rescue teams, TOEI had finally registers the trademark for the 2014 Super Sentai series. It will be entitled Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger (烈車戦隊トッキュウジャー), translated as "Vehement Car Taskforce Special Express Ranger".
It is said that this season's theme will be TRAINS. "Ressha" is a pun pronounced the same as "train" in Japanese, but uses the kanji characters for "vehement" and "car." The word "tokkyū" also means "limited express train".
Hopefully, the mecha won't look like this:

ReplyDeleteWell, we had a train themed Kamen Rider already and since they seem to have this thing where there's a Sentai counterpart for each Rider series and vice versa it makes sense they'd bring about a train themed Sentai series at some point.

The name pretty much screams that they are going to have trains. We'll see how it turns out. Always been a fan of the train robos.

DeleteAs for the team... Sounds interesting. Before I read the meaning behind the words I was thinking Carranger. Now I'm intrigued and interested. Can't wait to see how it turns out (although no hurry to finish off the Tokkyuger's first teamup buddies :) )

ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the whole eco-friendly vehicle campaign has some effect in this series, so no wonder if they're gonna use cars or any other fossil fueled-machinery into villain concept this year.. if they're using the same logic

ReplyDeleteReserving judgement until seeing them in action of course, but ANYTHING would be better than another rehash of dinosaurs. I personally would have liked to see a Beast King Go-Lion (aka Voltron, just for the record) Sentai homage, like how Jetman was a Gatchaman homage.
