Few weeks before the confirmation on the cast members, translations from a newly published magazine showcasing the 38th Super Sentai series Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger (烈車戦隊トッキュウジャー) had revealed each of the member's personalities.
Getting an initial idea on our five main characters, their personalities are:
- Tokkyu #1, the leader of the Ressha Sentai, is a force of his own, a happy soldier, and it seems that he hides a greater imagination than anyone else.
- Tokkyu #2 is an incredibly smart, walking dictionary – the serious soldier – and in a fight, he’ll over-think just about anything.
- Tokkyu #3 is a dependable woman who always comes to the aid of her friends, using a variety of martial arts to unleash her exacting techniques on the enemy.
- Tokkyu #4, a forever unhurried soldier, even in a pinch, and that’s actually where he finds his power.
- Tokkyu #5 is a cute-natured girl, who turns into a variety of different characters to fight. Giving people the wrong impression of her strength is what gives her an unexpected power.

well that pretty normal almost all the sentai warriors had the same personalities

ReplyDeleteSo, we have a happy red that's a force to be reckon with, a serious blue that overthinks things, a yellow that's willing to help others and a martial artist, a lazy ass green, and a childish pink. How interesting, I'm looking forward to this show no matter how much people say it's terrible.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts about Tokkyuger's character's personality will be:
ReplyDeleteTokkyu Ichigo: Resemblance of Jan Kandou (Gekiranger), Kai Ozu (Magiranger) and Daigo Kiryuu (Kyoryuuger).
Tokkyu Nigo: Mix-fusion between Renn Kousaka (Go-Onger) and Joe Gibken (Gokaiger). Could be also resemblance to Houji-san from Dekaranger.
Tokkyu Sango: Reminds me of Ran Uzaki (Gekiranger) since she was a kenpo-practitioner. Others include Haruka (Maskman) and Remi Hoshikawa (Fiveman).
Tokkyu Yongo: Resemblance of Don Dogoier from Gokaiger, Sion from Timeranger and Makito Ozu from Magiranger.
Tokkyu Gogo: She reminds me of Koume Kodou (Dekaranger), Sakura Nishihori (Boukenger), Mako Shiraishi (Shinkenger) and Ahim de Famille (Gokaiger).

ReplyDeleteOkaaay... not really surprising cause basically the characters are similar each year, but why do I get the feeling that this is going to be more like... Goseiger? As in uninspiring characters, weird plot, and awkward design that made me skip the entire season? Well, they already hit me hard enough with the design... so...

ReplyDeleteThe yellow, blue and pink rangers should have neon-colored outfits like the green ranger. I notice no black ranger so far. Maybe, the 6th ranger will have a black, white or silver outfit.

ReplyDeleteI still think the suits are wayyy too simplistically hideous, like how Daredevil's suit can never be great because it's a monotone Red. Still, I think those personality breakdowns might make for some interesting characters. I might have to simply tune out every time they henshin.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that recently a great sentai is followed by a much weaker one. Shinkenger followed by Goseiger, Gokaiger followed by Gobusters and Kyoryuger followed by...hope I'm wrong!

ReplyDeleteThe personalities sound average I guess average, but all I'm hoping that tokkyu red is not like Alata from Goseiger. Maybe like someone said like Jan Or Kai.
ReplyDeletei for one cant wait to see the series.as for the complainers go. they can just go watch power rangers super megaforce if they really want to have something to complain about.i know a few people complained about kyoryuger because of the dancing that was envolved in the morphing secquences.but the series turned out to be very popular in japan.

ReplyDeleteLets get something straight here. It is very hard to get a perfect idea of a character's personality from a written description of them. And if we look back at the past Sentai character descriptions, some were hard to picture as well. We still wont be able to tell the full story, until it premieres. Besides, Goseiger received bad criticisms at first due to the angel theme. And it ended up being a pretty good series.

That's debatable friend. The final arc is what actually saved the series. The rest of your assessment is spot on. For everyone else that's asking about an American adaptation. I really don't think Power Rangers will last that long. The rating for Mega Force are far from spectacular. Saban know's these split seasons are destroying the franchise. Nick is the only network that wants to air it. An appetizer for it's more popular programming.
