Research Says Doraemon Best Represents the "Cool Japan" Concept


The Tokyo Polytechnic University's research finally revealed the results about "Who is the character that best represents the 'Cool Japan' concept".

And it goes with...
  1. Doraemon - 55.6%
  2. Son Goku (Dragon Ball) - 38.3%
  3. Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) - 37.5%
  4. Pikachu (Pokemon) - 37.4%
  5. Anpanman - 37.3%
  6. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) - 35.5%
  7. Gundam - 35.0%
  8. Hatsune Miku - 32.6%
  9. Astro Boy - 30.5%
  10. Hello Kitty - 30.3%
  11. Mario - 30.0%
  12. Eva Unit-01 (Neon Genesis Evangelion)- 29.5%
  13. Lupin the 3rd - 24.4%
  14. Godzilla - 22.7%
  15. Naruto - 19.4%
Researchers had conducted surveys on 1,000 Japanese citizen from ages 15 to 49 between January 17 and 22 through mobile. And the result comes out, do you think Doraemon is the right character that best represents the Cool Japan concept?

    Well Doraemon existed in '69 onwards so it would stick on the people's minds more...

    and while maybe Ichigo and Nigo were more a boy's demographic, Doraemon was more catered to everybody (cuteness for the girls, adventures for the boys, etc.)

    And I don't live in Japan so they may not have the same interests as I do...
