Despite the plans to remove the inappropriate photo, Kodansha announced that idol group AKB48 member Tomomi Kasai's first solo photobook, “Tomo no Koto, Suki?”, was canceled.
The magazine's editors apologized for the cancellation of people's orders and thanked them for their understanding. According to the Yomiuri Shimbun paper, it is possible that a new photobook for Kasai will be released in the future.
was delayed due to an inappropriate photo featuring the photobook's past cover where Kasai nude from the waist up with a child standing behind and reaching around her chest. Kodansha is currently under investigation by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department for possible child pornography charges due to the book.
According to reports, the incident will cost Kodansha more than 300 million yen (about US$3.4 million) for just revising and reprinting the magazine issue alone.
Last December, Tomomi Kasai released her debut single “Masaka”. But during “The 2nd AKB48 Kohaku Taikou Uta Gassen” event last December 17th, she announced her graduation from the group. Details are yet to be announced.
