Lightning as “Liberator” in Latest Final Fantasy XIII Game

In an interview by Japanese gaming site Famitsu, the developers of the final installment of the main Final Fantasy XIII game, “Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” reveals that Lightning will act as a "Liberator" to save the souls of everyone.

The mission was entrusted to Lightning, donning the Liberatur outfit, by Bhunivelze, a Fabula Nova Crystallis god, to help souls transfer to the new world. Lighting has 13 days to save it.

Director, Motomu Toriyama, explains:
“We got [Tetsuya] Nomura to design Lightning for what will be her last fight. We asked him to represent her with the word ‘strength’ as the focus. Red and white were the dominant colors that represented Final Fantasy XIII, with that in consideration, I believe that the color red symbolizes strength better than any other. In the end, we decided to go half white and red for Lightning’s color scheme.”

The game, which acts as the final chapter in Lightning's saga, takes place as the world is about to end and Lighting has 13 days to save it. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is slated to be released in 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.
