One Piece Film Z is Toei's Highest Grossing Film, Earns 60.5 Million USD

As of Saturday, January 5th, the latest One Piece movie, “One Piece FILM Z” has earned 5,286,555,200 yen (about US$60,542,100). It immediately became TOEI's highest grossing film since 2000.

One Piece Film Z broke the record of Jun'ya Sato's 2005 live-action film Otoko-tachi no Yamato, which earned 5.11 billion yen (US$59 million) during its run. As previously reported, its box office earnings is higher, by more than a hundred fold, than One Piece Film Strong World, which manages to earn 4.8 billion yen (US$54.97 million) during its entire theatrical run.

The film is now the fastest Japanese domestic film to sell 1 million tickets this year!

The "Dyna Stone", a Marines' secret weapon that is comparable to the Ancient Weapons, has suddenly been stolen! Behind this is former Marine Admiral "Z", who now stands in the path of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Eiichiro Oda himself will oversee the production of the “One Piece Film Z” as its executive producer. Osamu Suzuki will serve as the script writer, and Tatsuya Nagamine will be the director.
