Kamen Rider Gaimu Sengoku Driver Gets October Release

A silhouette seen at the latest Ganbaride promo

Listings for the merchandise of the 15th Heisei Kamen Rider series Kamen Rider Gaimu were starting to show up on various Japanese toy stores. The listings shows the Sengoku Driver, Gaimu's belt, will be released by October.

Right is a supposed sketch of the Sengoku Driver.

Kamen Rider Gaimu transforms by inserting a Lock Seed into the driver and then cutting the fruit part. Lock Seeds are ring-like items that are available in both Capsule and Candy versions, which roughly costs 500 yen each. Capsule Lock Seed 02-04 will be released on November, while 05-07 on December.

Additionally, unlike his predecessors starting from Kamen Rider W, Kamen Rider Gaimu didn't make an appearance in Kamen Rider Wizard In Magic Land. Moreover, it has been revealed that Ryuta Tasaki (Kamen Rider OOO, Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger) will be the director of Gaimu's first episode.

I personally (read: subjective point of view) feel that the Kamen Rider series should return to its more dark, mature and serious nature. By all means, the past few series was okay and they did dwelve into more mature plots, but in the end they just felt like Sentai versions of Kamen Rider with those bright and colorful vibrant. I think we need Black, Kuuga, or Hibiki type of storytelling for the next batch... y'know, something to differentiate it from the general audience treatment of Sentai.

This belt design is nearly identical to the belt from that illustration that turned out to be fake. Like, the artist for it said he made it up. So I'm having trouble telling if this has any legitimacy to it. I mean, even the knife is designed the same way as the fake illustration.

Well the silhouette of Gaimu looks nothing like the first orange samurai pic. Which means the first picture isn't Gaimu at all. He looks like Double CycloneJokerXtreme and Kaixa. The silhouette of sengoku driver looks like it has a knife weapon on the side. Maybe the knife will be a scanner for the lock seeds in the belt.

The collectable gimmick item of this series to my surprise isn't toy fruits. Instead it's fruit seeds. Like that makes it any better. The sketch of the sengoku driver looks like the birth driver recolored with a knife. I doubt it look like that. I can already guess that the leds of the driver will have a little image of the fruit and color corresponding to it. So red for apple, yellow for banana etc... Either way it's bizzare.

Samurai kamen rider harnessing the powers of fruits. Doesn't sound good. The only way this gimmick will come together is if the protagonist of the series is a chef or food lover. That would make this motif and gimmick work. It would also make perfect sense. But I doubt it. I can't for the official pics to to be released.

Kamen Rider has had multiple more mature and darker series. OOO and even Wizard have had more mature and rather intense storylines and as a whole are not happy stories. OOO especially gets points for not going for the forced happy ending. Unlike Fourze with a last minute "I'm alive!"

Hell...even some sentai series are dark and grim. Go-Busters in general...is full of dark grim moments. The ending is notable for doing something they havent' done since Timerangers or Abarangers really. It's just the way it goes. For every dark and more mature series we get, we get a lighter and easier series.
