"Sazae-san" Got Its Guiness Entry


Hasegawa Machiko's Sazae-san manga was now recognized by the Guiness World of Records as the longest-running animated television series in the world last Thursday. Sazae's voice actress, Kato Midori accepts the award on a ceremony.


Katou was very proud and excited to receive the award since she has done the said project for 45 years as she commented on the event.

Sazae-san's anime adaptation has begun since 1969, and the show celebrates its 45th year anniversary this year. The anime is composed of about 7,000 short stories equivalent to over 2,250 episodes as of September 1st and constantly receiving high ranks on the Japanese TV rankings.

Added to this success, Sazae-san's author Hasegawa Machiko's life would be adapted to a live-action drama special scheduled to be shown in November. Alongside with this, Mizuki Arisa was chosen to take the role of Sazae in four live-action special with a special retrospective on the past 7,000 stories to be aired this fall.
