Saban Brands has officially announced a partnership with Lionsgate to produce and original and re-envisioned live action film based on the popular Power Rangers franchise!
Haim Saban and Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer announced this partnership today to mark another step in Lionsgate commitment to build a solid portfolio of branded properties and franchises with global appeal.
With both companies noting that with a very solid fanbase around the world, Power Rangers are ready for the big screen. The newest film franchise will bring a re-envisioned Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers team, where a group of high school kids entrusted with great super powers and awesome weapons and machinery must harness and use these powers as a team in hopes of saving the world from evil.

"They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent. in partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're completely confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it to a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy of it's own."

My question is...where do we sign up to audition haha
Well this is a cool idea. Though I rather see them use a different team or just create a all new ranger team. Then re harping on mmpr again. But curious to see what comes of this. And like first film will probably be its own out of cannon setting.
If I was still an avid Power Ranger fanboy, I would totally hype out for this idea...
But now, after I pledged my allegiance to Super Sentai, this idea just fell off very silly for me. 'Reenvisioned'? So basically... a reboot to a movie based on Zyuranger? Now I kinda think Saban should've adapted Zyuranger and not the following teams afterwards :(
Let me guess, the movie will be based on Kyoryuger vs Go-Buster, right?

Very interesting development. Didn't expect a move like this. Curious to see who will wrote and direct the film. What type of remaking it will be from mmpr. And then of cause be nice to have some cameos of mmpr actors. Be them Radom civilian s the new rangers save. To some sort of passing torch like moment or even voices of badguys.
This is gonna be a full reboot, 100% american made. New costumes, new story, everything. and PG-13 I hope, a bit more serious than the norm.
it will depend on how they do it -also they have to have a lord zedd class villian -their other original villians haven't been as good as he was concept wise

To the Anonymous who said the movie were failures, MMPR made over 4x its money back, Turbo broke even, and CotRR was a TV special so if anything there 1-1.

So you prefer a Super Mega Farce movie to an Re-imagined MMPR with the possibility being mature content? HAHAH lol yeah.. Obvious troll is still obvious.
The previous PR movies didn't have the backing of a major studio like Lionsgate, either. I'm sure that they'll try to put in as much "creative input" as a studio exec can. But if anything, Lionsgate is superbly skilled at hyping their own movies.
folks this is not likely gobusters or an adaptation of the gobusters vs kyoruger film. The press release clearly state it is a reinvision take on MMPR/Zyuranger. So this will probably be on par to compare it to the bay transformers films or the upcoming TMNT film.
Also its not like this is going to be happening ASAP. There is no actors, no crew, no script or director lined up. So this could still be a few yrs away from happening. In my opinion they should hold this off to have it timed up with MMPR 25th anni in 4 more yrs.
Also like the original film its more then likely going to be its own thing and no barings to the PR Tv universe/continuity/cannon. So it can be its own thing and the tv shows still keep on coming yrly/bi yrly.
I do hope some former pr show crew folks do get invovled in the film. And it would be nice to have any of the MMPR era rangers to do cameos in the film. Be a teacher at the rangers school, owner of there hangout place, or just some random civilians the rangers save, or even just used as voice actors for a badguy.
As long as they don't turn it into a Bayformers-style CGI clustercuss, I'm in.
People here do realize that they're aiming for their own Power Rangers Cinematic Universe here, right? Not like the first movie - bigger. They want a TV universe and a movie universe in the vein of The Avengers.
