Power Rangers Beast Morphers Announced By Hasbro

After acquiring the rights for the Power Rangers toy line, Hasbro and Saban Brands has announced the title for the 2019 Power Rangers series and its called Power Rangers Beast Morphers which will adapt 2012's Tokumei Sentai Go-Buster!

Here's the brief synopsis for the series that was released in the New York Toy Fair event:

"Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called “Morph-X” with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus bent on taking over the source of all Ranger power, the Morphin Grid itself. Featuring never-before-seen leather suits and an all-new beast-themed arsenal (including dynamic new Zords), fans should get ready for a season full of secret ops and morphinominal fun."

This also marks the first time that the franchise has jumped back to an older Super Sentai series for the source to be adapted instead of taking a series that recently ended. Stay tuned for more new and updates as always.

In my opinion the switch from Bandai to Hasbro is as much if not more interesting than the decision to use go busters over newer series. I wonder if they chose an older series cause the switch to Hasbro will be in 2019 and it will be easier for Bandai to cover the merch for an older series than a more recent one, Hasbro may also want to take on a space series such as kyuuranger fresh In 2020 rather than take the baton from Bandai mid way.

There’s one other thing to keep in mind, Hasbro is a much bigger company than Bandai America, and unlike Bandai America they have the capability of creating property for use to sell toys as they do in producin* transformers movies and animated series as well as other properties like G.I. joe,

I don’t anticipate it but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Hasbro taking possession of power rangers entirely from Super Sentai. It would take a lot of investment to create their own tv series, but look at how much they spend on their other properties. The power rangers franchise is an extremely powerful brand that has largely been untapped. I don’t know if the future of pr is for the better, but I certainly don’t think it’s going to be the same.

Also one last thing to consider: for all the problems go buster had the mecha/zord fights were amazing and in abundance. I can imagine “morphin beasts” (terrible name and the logo reminds me too much of beast machines) being similar to season 2 and 3of power rangers: a lot of un morphed scenes and slice of life moments mixed in with very short suit fights and long zord sequences

I swear these names are getting dumber and dumber. I can't wait to see how they'll ruin Go-Busters. I think the switch to hasbro is interesting, though. They usually put in more effort than BoA (Which isn't saying much) so that's going to be interesting to see what they make.

After seeing this, a friend of mine realised that this series could work really well with the 2 season setup. Season 1 could be the whole Messiah arc (please let it be the return of Venjix. That would be awesome) while Season 2 could be the hunt for the Messiah Cards.

Wow i always annoyed me that they skipped go-buster. But this is a major suprise

It seems like an odd choice, given that traditionally, Power Rangers is only one or two years behind Super Sentai at most, but I’m all for this one. I was just thinking to myself a few days ago that Power Rangers pretty much had their work cut out for them with Go-Busters, but they didn’t use it.

I had lost hope that they would do this series. This. Is. AWESOME! :D

Better than zyuohger and kyuranger. Hope it gets a good adaptation.

  8. Wow, Go-Buster premiered in 2012?!
    Jesus, I'm old.

  9. Unknown Says:

If I remember from History of the Power Rangers by Linkara he said that Judd Lynn had already written out a plot that would use the Go Busters series so why waste something that is already in their hands

  10. What are these Messiah cards you speak of?

First off, @Avery, couldn't agree more (can't wait to see Power Rangers: Super Beast Morphers *eye roll*). Second, let me get this straight: First, they skipped adapting Go-Buster in favor of adapting Kyoryuger into Dino Charge. Then, they skipped ToQger in favor of adapting Ninninger. Now they are going back to adapt Go-Buster after all? Was personally hoping to see a Jyuohger adaptation, but seeing how that was used for Ninja Steel, this sounds almost like a rehash/followup to RPM

If you watch the show, you will understand
