Tokusatsu Writer Shozo Uehara Passes Away At Age 82


A very sad news has come after the start of a new year as Shozo Uehara, prolific tokusatsu writer for various Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Metal Hero series passes away at the age of 82 due to liver cancer.


Born in 1973 in Okinawa, Mr. Uehara joined Tsuburaya Productions after graduating in 1965 and work on its earliest projects such as Ultraseven, Return of Ultraman and then in 1969, he went freelance and work on the 5 early Super Sentai series from Himitsu Sentai Goranger till Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan, the first 5 Combat Suits Saga of the Metal Hero series and also wrote for Kamen Rider Black.

Mr. Uehara also work on Super Robot titles such as UFO Grendizer, Video Senshi Lasereon and then on Captain harlock.

To all of us in the Tokusatsu community around the world, we thank you for the legacy that you have left us, Mr. Uehara. Rest in peace.

    He was born Feb. 6, 1937 not 1973. He'd have been 83 next month
