Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime's 1st Season Gets New DVD Release in the U.S.


U.S. retailer New Video Group will be releasing a new DVD box set of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters trading card game anime in North American territories this September. The set will include all 49 episodes from the anime's first season.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Season 1 DVD Box Set costs $44.95, and will be released this September 10th. Also available are two separate volumes of the first season, each costing $24.95 each [PRE-ORDER HERE]. No other information available as of writing. New Video Group previously released the first three seasons of the Digimon anime franchise, with the fourth one coming this September.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters follows Yugi Mutou, a timid kind-hearted boy, who embarks on a journey with his friends - Katsuya, Hiroto, and Anzu - to Duelist Kingdom, a tournament on the island of the same name, to free his grandfather from imprisonment by Maximillion Pegasus.

  2. So we can assume this will also have japanese/english subs then? I can't stand yugioh in english.

  4. Since it's so cheap and they are doing a volume release alongside it I highly doubt it will have any noteworthy extras. Think more along the lines of the new Digimon DVDs that just recently came out.
