It has been revealed in a sports broadcast interview that a new sister group of AKB48 will be born in Hokkaido, Sapporo, and will be called SPR48. Apparently, activities will start not this year, nor next year, but on Spring 2015.
A local conglomerate has already introduced themselves as a partner. They are aiming to open a dedicated theater this coming Spring 2015 and will start recruiting members as a start of activities. Former ace Atsuko Maeda who graduated last August 27th, 2012 will be performing as a guest at the Sapporo Dome concert of AKB48, to give a boost to the new groups' formation.
