It has been announced that idol group Nogizaka46, AKB488's official rivals, will be singing the new opening theme of Naruto Shippuden. The soon-to-be-entitled song is will start playing on Naruto's October 3rd episode.
A new unit, Naruzaka46, will also be formed comprising of members Rina Ikoma, Reika Sakurai, Nanami Hashimoto, Nanase Nishino, Sayuri Matsumura, and Yumi Wakatsuki, as an official supporter team for the anime. They will start appearing in a 15-second section in the anime's September 5 episode. Additionally, they will also be featured on "Naruto Tsushin-Narutsu" in Weekly Shonen Jump.
