Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger Latest Scans

Scans from the latest issue of Japanese magazines surfaced online showcasing a better look at the 38th Super Sentai series Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger (烈車戦隊トッキュウジャー). Apart from the confirmation on the team's roll call, most of the things published in the magazine were already present on the 1st quarter toy catalogs.

It has been previously revealed that the series will be using a different call sign. Here's a preview of their roll call: [RED] Strongly! Tokkyu #1 (Ikioi! Tokkyu Ichigou), [BLUE] Seriously! Tokkyu #2 (Kimajime! Tokkyu Nigou), [YELLOW] Fervently! Tokkyu #3 (Shikkari! Tokkyu Sangou), [GREEN] Calmly! Tokkyu #4 (Reisei! Tokkyu Yongou) and [PINK] Joyfully! Tokkyu #5 (Akarui! Tokkyu Gogou).

To transform into Tokkyuger, our heroes uses the TokkyuChanger, loaded with their respective mini-trains called TokkyuRessha: Red Ressha, Blue Ressha, Yellow Ressha, Green Ressha and Pink Ressha. Each of them also wields the TokyuuBlaster, which transforms from "Uchimasu Mode" (Gun) into "Kirimasu Mode" (Sword).

Lastly, we finally got our first live-action look at this year's main mecha, the TokkyuOh.

  5. The Tokkyuoh suit doesn't look as bad as I expected it's basically a poor man's rainbow version of Grandliner. And the henshin brace Tokkyuchanger is awesome. Reminds me a lot of GOGOV. And hey we got our first live action shots of the suit. It looks nice and the train tracks visor are shiny chrome. Not bad.

Now I bet all you ban wagon jumpers are gonna start saying it's good again. Hypocrites. Doesn't matter anyway since you people would watch and buy the toys anyway. No opinion wanted.

  6. the most simple sentai ever.. so epic !

  7. Wow,that gotta be one of the most ridiculous suits ever.

  8. This is prolly the most simplistic, goofy lookin sentai team ive evar seen..they rly arent trying with this one...unless of coarse the story GREATLY makes up for it, which i doubt...

  9. Yay, more pictures. I swear, Toei always get great pics. I'm liking the suits more. Not my favorites (helmets seems too big and detailed for the suits), but I like them alright. After 37 teams, it's probably hard to come up with new designs that doesn't look too much like the old heroes. Not enough to wait for 2015.

The robot could be a little more detailed, but I love the design. Love the rainbow motif.

I feel optimistic about this show. Can't wait to see it. :)

  11. yellow is a female???
the first info, yellow is a male.

    which is the correct one???

  12. This is the worst super sentai I've ever seen !!!!!!!!!

  13. The mecha train body is proportional, THANK GOD!

I still wish it had more detail though, but this is great to know.

  16. It's simplistically goofy, but it's a GOOD kind of goofy.

Plus, seeing TokkyuOh in person instead of a toy makes it look a whole lot better. It's, again, simplistic and VERY streamlined.

  17. Well, with better scans out, tbh the Tokkyuger suits aren't really THAT bad, TokkyuOh looks better too.

  18. I think they know they're taking a big risk in doing this kind of pattern after having so many years with modern kind of suits. So we can only hope that the risk they're taking is worth it so like you guys said, the story needs to be right in our face and strong enough to back up their design that most of us doesn't prefer. But I put my bet on them that they know what they're doing.

    1. Same here. There's no way Toei is playing fast and loose with one of their most popular properties. I see focus groups and a ton of rejected designs and BANDAI having plenty of say since, as far as I know, they either have partial ownership or at least help foot the bill. Not to mention that they're not going to sit by if they think the designs would make it impossible to sell their toys.

  19. I was confident that the TokkyuOh would look better in suit form that it did in toy form. I was right I does look better, not good but better. Chrome on the helmets and female yellow are nice though. I'm really hopeing that the characters or villain desings can pull me in cuss nonething has impressed me yet.

  20. Last time we had a sentai involving a train was Go Go V.

Honestly, see the show before judging. Who knows?

They may go Brave Express Might Gaine on us.

  21. Their definitely going on "the express way of infinite possibilities"! - {2014 Sentai ROCKS}

  22. What if for the next hand-off, Kyoryu red is waiting for a train, it comes, that's when Tokkyu Nigou comes out of the train, Kyoryuger high fives him or something, that's when Kyoryu Red gets in the train and "departs" while the camera zooms in on Tokkyu Nigou...

  23. My thoughts about Sixth ranger:
    - Based on American steam locomotives. Red is based on Japanese steam locomotives.
    - Could be a Japanese guy but working overseas in America as the train conductor
    - Cowboy-themed

It's a girl, you can see how the Yellow stands. The Yellow is a male was an early rumors before the actual one was released.

Overall, the mecha was look so good than the actual toy we seen in catalogs, but I have a mixed feelings of whenever I will like it or not. It will be too late for Toei to redesign the suit and mecha as the design was already finalized and has been approved before it was previewed to the public, so all I can hope now is a solid story lines and interesting characters, and all the design issues will be forgotten like a wind.

I mean, c'mon, Gaim also having the issues on design during the first promotion. At first we hate Gaim because of ridiculous mix of fruit-samurai-breakdancing theme, but the writers, the plot and the story lines is the reason we like Gaim so much. If Gaim can handle such of this issues, then why not Tokkyuger?

  24. He stole WizarSwordGun... Nevermind I'll just wait the show.

  25. Hopefully this one will better than Kyoryuger - the KAMEN RIDER KING AND HIS FRIENDS -_-. Everything on Red, all of story around Red, look like Kamen Rider motip. However, this is Super Sentai, a story around a team, not Kamen Rider. So Sanjo Riku is bad writer in Super Sentai era, and with Kyoryuger, the SS series went down slowly with rating may lower than Go-Busters.

  26. Toei goes back to the best of 80s. Great ¡

  27. When I saw the "initial designs" for Tokkyuuger, or more what looked like figures, I thought it was just a rough concept, and would improve later.

I cannot believe they are going to pull through with this design. And holy crap the robot! THE ROBOT!! WHAT IS THAT THING???

  28. Okay, next year we have colourful mecha from train themed sentai. I need some time to be accostumed to their costumes though :)

  29. i agree w/ deen said when he said we were first hating on gaim before it came out but now alot of us are really liking it. this new sentai looked HORRIBLE w/ those 1st pics but now it looks MUCH better. Not good but better.
and the same thing happened w/ me and kamen rider W cuz that outfit hurt to look at it but after finishing the series, i can honestly say that it is my favorite rider so i think we should really give this show a chance. (and i don't udnerstand how some people cud say kyoryuger has ugly outfits!)

  30. I like everything but the helmet design

    ReplyDelete
  31. i will forgive you sentai if you make the 2015 series super duper epic with like 20 rangers with a load of mechas and upgrades.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Still trying to get past the costume... those visors look really... KIDDY. I hope it will look better in action, but I doubt I'll be watching this season
And the mecha still needs some work, though it look nicer in person

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow maybe the first scans were a bit blurry, but the helmet design wasn't as bad as I thought. Plus, the suits aren't too bad. It's simple but for me it's acceptable kinda feels like an old sentai look. The mecha looks super blocky and ugly, way worse than when they showed kyoruger's mecha.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Okay i was iffy about the suits and the mecha but now that I have seen live shots of them i actually think they will be better, it very much is a throw back to alot of the earlier sentais like the late 80s early 90s. I am excited to see how this show goes on, what they need to do is have extremely better villians now that would round out the show in a whole

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't like the suits.. I just don't they look silly. Does this mean I'm not going to like the show? of course not. The writing may be amazing, or the drama, or the action. I'm just going off from what we already know.

  36. So many people buttmad over what is essentially a suit and robot design that is reminiscent of classic showa sentais...
