This year's Japan World Cup would be supported by Pikachu, together with his Pokémon friends, as they pair up with Adidas. Specific details for the promotion is yet to be announced. Few images of this iconic electric mouse has appeared in Japan's team shirt as well as in person.
Aside from having Pikachu for support, the idol group AKB48 has also been enlisted by Adidas for help. The idols wore soccer jerseys for a television commercial though it wasn't being aired yet but Adidas has been streaming a behind-the-scenes look for it.
To be held in Brazil, the World Cup will run from June 12 to July 13 and Japan would be opening in Group C with Greece, Côte d'Ivoire, and Colombia.
