Just in! After revealing Dacre Montgomery as the actor who will portray the role of the Red Ranger, the movie's instagram account has posted the information on the actor who will portray the Black Ranger!
Chinese actor Ludi Lin, known for his role on The Shannon Entropy (2012), Holiday Spin (2012 and Monster Hunt (2015) will portray the role of the Black Ranger in the 2017 reboot of the Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger movie.
The 2017 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie will be released in January 13, 2017.

So....."Zack is not Black"?!?! XD No, I'm just kidding. But, oh well. At least they're being serious about the fixing the casting choices so that it won't draw anymore parallels to the racial controversy about the casting choices to the original MMPR series.
Well this is ironic.
Anybody notice they're only calling them blue ranger or red ranger. Not "Jason the red ranger" "billy the blue ranger" etc?
I wonder if to emphasize this is unique continuity they're going to use different names.

I think they're more focusing on 2nd generation of Power Rangers. Remember Adam?
If the character bios are anything to go by, this is the new Zach.
And that's not a problem at all. There's no law dictating that this fictional character has to be black.
It seems like they're creating their own rangers, but only using the originals as character archetypes, which is what they did for Megaforce anyway.
