Ultraman actor Masanari Nihei has passed away, aged 80.
Masanari Nihei passed away on August 21, 2021 due to aspiration pneumonia. His funeral was attended by family members.
Also known as Masanori Nihei, he became know for his role in the original Ultraman as Mitsuhiro Ide, a member of the Science Special Search Party (SSSP). He was responsible for inventing the team's weapons and gear, as well as the comic relief.
Masanari Nihei has also appeared in other Tsuburaya works such as Ultra Q, and several entries in the Ultraman franchise.
