chill guys, it is more of a homage to tokusatsu suit actors, presented as a comedy film, of course it make sense to go with familiar design as it is going for the nostalgia factor.

Trivia: the kanji/chinese character of the title literally means "Henshin", don't know why they go with "Machi Action" for the English title

I honestly don't mind that they "borrowed" the suit ideas from Kamen Rider. In fact, this film actually seems kind of interesting.

Yeah, it may be a blatent rip off, and one may remember Armor Hero, but get a sense of humor. Personally I would watch it, it looks amusing. Though knowing chinese shows the plot probably will make zero sense.

People need to relaz. It's not ripping off anything a simple homage/comedy. Toku not exclusive to Japan. It just means special effects anyway. That's everywhere.

this actually looks really hilarious and heart warming. Do you guys have no sense of humor? I'm actually hoping somebody subs this whenever a DVD comes out. Yes the suits look like riders but the story is about the actors behind them. I almost was brought to tears as that kid was in that wheel chair thinking he could grow up to be a hero too. It shows Toku really inspires people of all ages to fight through the hard times. In fact I hope this movie does well.

the movie obviously is a homage to toku series. with the twist being that they focus on the lives of the actor potraying the toku series after the toku series ended. thats what the movie is all about.

am i right in saying that (from the trailer), it looks like all the action and danger with monsters and stuff turns out to be real, and the actor has to really become a hero? or was that just part of the filming of the show within the movie?

all right everyone please calm down ! this movie is not a tokumovie but instead more like a action drama close to kick-ass ........ the story about the actor chenbolin he used to be a hero in a local tv series but he was replaced by somenew hero due to poor rating thus he must find a way to resurrect his popularity ... nothing has to do with kr or ultra ... its all about tokuactors struggle in succeed and fame

This isn't a ripoff anymore than Galaxy Quest was a ripoff of Star Trek. It's satire, and it looks pretty good to me. They even have a Godzilla-like suit actor.

I can honestly say that I'm really looking forward to watch this. I don't know a bit Chinese, but I don't care. I'm sure someone will sub it anyway

Actually, it's not from China, it's from Taiwan. And if you don't understand the language, don't offer your opinion how it's a rip off or the plot sucks. Story line is about an action hero who's job was taken over by another action hero. It's a comedy movie (in a way) for those of you who understand the language. It's seeing life and things that happens in life through the eyes of a ex-tv-super-hero.
You really should avoid it if you are going to judge a movie before you see it.

Just so everyone calms down, this movie has already been approved by Toei Japan. Actually saw it this weekend and it's really good. Would definitely recommend it. Already subtitled guys!
