Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods Ranks 5th in Overseas Box Office

Similar to what happened to Naruto: Road to Ninja last year, “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods” manages to rank on the 5th spot in the Overseas Box Office Charts, earning an estimate of US$ 7 million on its first weekend alone!

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods became the the top-grossing non-American film on the chart, after G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Croods, Jack the Giant Slayer, and Oz the Great and Powerful. While the other four are having their worldwide releases, the Dragon Ball Z film were only shown in 328 screens in Japan, with 16 IMAX theaters earning US$450,000, for a per-screen average of US$28,000.

Taking place during the manga's "lost decade", The God of Destruction Bils awakens from a long inactivity, and challenges Goku in a battle!

Directed by Masahiro Hosoda (Dragon Ball Z episode director) at TOEI, and written by Yuusuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz), with a deep involvement of original author Akira Toriyama, “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods” premieres March 30th.
