Young Jump is announcing that Hiroya Oku's action thriller manga series Gantz will be ending in two more chapters. The manga's "Final Phase" started back in 2009 and Oku had stated before that he wanted to end it by 2012.
Originally released in 2000, the manga had already inspired a television anime series animated by Gonzo, and two live-action films starring Kazunari Ninomiya and Ken'ichi Matsuyama. The 36th volume of the manga was released in Japan last March.
Gantz tells the story of Kei Kurono and his friend Masaru Kato who die in a train accident and become part of a semi-posthumous "game" in which they and several other recently deceased people are forced to hunt down and kill aliens armed with a handful of futuristic items of equipment and weaponry.

I have been reading this manga for wut seems like forever...at least eight years, easy.
I am saddened it will be ending but at the same tiem, happy its finally gnna be over. The author has RLY RLY dragged it on and sometimes not in a good way...GANTZ is DEAD! LONG LIVE GANTZ!

This last arc has just made me facepalm way too much because of how dumb it turned out.
Gantz would have already ended like 10-20 chapters ago if the author stopped wasting 10 pages for one stupid scene. Seriously, just count how many pages were wasted on the recent chapters just to show that Tae is crying.
It's on the point of stupidity with how Bleach tries to prolong it's life by wasting 5 pages for one attack. lulz
It's been going for 13 years. It started in the passing millennium, year 2000.
Sadly, the chapter becomes very weird and should have ended like the anime and the movie. The author use to many computer generated drawing instead by hand. Some stories are missing and not well presented, like the story of kurono;s brother. Then the battle become weirder until the giants show up and I stop reading it until now.
I love Gantz, it's been a great run. Finale Phase dragged on a little too long but once you read from start to finish, it makes such a huge difference
As someone who loved this series, I am not at all sad to see it go. It should have ended a long, long time ago. I will always remember it for what it was, though, and not what it became.
