Tomomi Kasai Graduates from AKB48

Last night marks the final theater performance of Tomomi Kasai as a member of the idol group AKB48. Along with fellow Shinoda Team A members, also present in theater are the 2nd generation members.

With fellow 2nd generation members Sayaka Akimoto, Yuko Oshima, Megumi Ohori, Ayaka Umeda, Kana Kobayashi, and Natsumi Matsubara, they performed “Enjoy your life!”. Kasai and Sae Miyazawa performed “Tomo yo” together towards the end of the show.

Words of praises and encouragement rained to Kasai. Juniors praised her with “I love her sweet singing voice” and “She called out to me when I was nervous”, which gave her an embarrassed look. As an encouragement, here are what the girls have to say: “The game begins after you graduate. Please move forward” (Akimoto), “I am looking forward to the day we can stand on the same stage again” (Oshima), “Don’t forget that you have many friends” (Miyazawa).

Being a member of AKB48 for the past seven years, Kasai expressed,
There were many frustrating, painful, sad, and hard times these past 7 years. At such times, I cheered up by reading everyone’s comments on my blog and letters. I love everyone, and everyone is my important family. I am uneasy about taking a new step forward, but I would like to chase my dream in order to stand on the same stage with everyone again. Thank you very much for the 7 years.

Tomomi Kasai, known as "Chiyuu~" and "Tomo~mi-chan" to fans, is a 2nd generation AKB48 member. She starred in AKB48's own drama series Majisuka Gakuen, as Ookabuki (half of the Kabuki Sisters duo), and in Kamen Rider W as Elizabeth.
