Original "Ultraman" Gets HD Remaster Blu-Ray Box

Originally announced during the press conference for Ultraman Ginga, the official page for the upcoming release of the Ultraman HD Remaster 2.0 Blu-Ray Box had been opened, featuring details, and preview images from the remastered footage.

The first Blu-Ray BOX, containing the first 13 episodes, will be released starting this July 10th, with the second (Episodes 14 to 26) on October 25th, and the third (Episodes 27 to 39) on January 29th, 2014. Each BOX costs 10,000 yen.

A promotional video had also started streaming but it's not available worldwide.

Originally ran from 1966 to 1967, Ultraman follows the story of Science Patrol member Shin Hayata serves as the human host for Ultraman, a red-and-silver giant. And whenever danger threatens, he activates the "beta capsule" and transforms to Ultraman to save the city for monster attacks.

I think it's great they are finally releasing the ultra series on blu ray and dvd. But why did they split the series into 3 releases, talk about a cheap way to earn more money. But anyway I hope they continue releasing the ultra series on dvd along with kamen rider and super sentai.

I think I'll stick to my $10 Complete Series DVD set. $100 for 13 episodes is fucking ridiculous.

  3. Here here. I really would love another tokusatsu boom in the US that even Power Rangers would be overshadowed by.
