TOEI announced that the recently revealed TOEI Japan Channel, a new channel that will bring our favorite tokusatsu series such as Kamen Rider and Super Sentai in the U.S., will be available through MyGlobeTV.
Today our company announces the Toei Japan Channel, a subscription service aimed for Japanese living in North America. For a month's subscription to the service, it will be $19.99.
It will be available through MyGlobeTV, provided by GlobeCast, a New York-based company that provides non-English programming across North America. (This service is not available outside North America.)
Toei Japan Channel will not only deliver Toei’s films and television programming, but also those available on Toei Video and from Central Arts K.K. (a Toei Video company), bringing a variety of content to viewers in North America.
TOEI Japan Channel's primary target audience are more than four hundred thousand Japanese who currently reside in the United States. And after a year, they do plan of adding English subtitles on their television programs. This is as a response to interest in the "Cool Japan" initiative, a program supported by the Japanese government and various companies to promote modern Japanese culture such as anime and manga abroad.

so if I wanted this, would i need another line? Cuz I already have digital cable with another provider
It also says "across north america" so does that mean Canada too? cuz that's where i'm at, Canada
20 a month? Damn. Sorry even for toku that is to much. 7.99-10 bucks or go home
$20! YOWCH!
Toei..Your stuff is good but its not the Criteron Collection or Citizen Kane for god's sake!
$8- $14.99 maybe... but not $20!
I just can't see myself parting with what amounts to a quarter or half tank of gas or a days worth of food for toku...
Businessmen in Japan are so unrealistic when it comes to pricing their goods.
Look at Nintendo's debacle with the 3DS and Wii U for example, it was too expensive for consumers so they had to make a price cut because of low sales.
I see that happening to Toei Channel, they will go belly up or do a price cut from not understanding that consumers in the US have a tighter grip on their wallets due to the rising cost of living.
Keep circulating the torrents folks, this one is a major letdown.
Something ELSE I can't afford.
20 bucks a month!? sonofa-!
Looks like we'll be sticking to fansubs for a while yet.
please bring this to the UK
...oh come ON! $20!!!
I just hope the free subs just keep on coming... Cause that's a bit much, even for me.
$20 per month and only for North America!!! If they include México... then I'll cry over not having pokemon Y and not be able to watch my heroes on TV TT.TT
$20 looks cheap to me. I'm not from America tho.
I have to agree and disagree on this, $20 a month is a great value if they play tons of shows we want main toku and anime. However just based on my knowledge of Canadian TV, international channels range from $2.50 - $15 PER CHANNEL! So if it's $20 it better be worth that price.
Also again not sure if I'd need a separate line for this, I'll have to call my cable company.
"$20 looks cheap to me. I'm not from America tho."
It isn't for the middle class when gas prices bounce around $3-$4 a gallon and food prices are on the rise.
add to the factor that you are paying $240 a year on a non essential service that could be used elsewhere like bills, Insurance and Cost of living in general and it is really not worth the price tag.
$20 a month means it's $240 a year!!! Not really worth it considering most of us would only watch it for the toku shows. It's not worth the price, $5 would be better. I even went on the their site and you have to install shit with the tv and add a new box. It's a hassle. I'll stick with my toku action on the net ^_^.
I can afford the $20 a month for this channel but I want to wait till they add the English subtitles. Now I just need to know how to buy it.
Oh wait, nevermind. I found the link. Now I play the waiting game.
People are willing to spend $30 to $50 weekly on drinking and partying. $20 a month is not bad. Even with a below average job, it shouldn't be more than two to three hours of your work
$20 is cheap to you? your deffinitely not from america otherwise you would be broke like the rest of us here in the states.im sticking with the fan subs myself since $20 is gas money i have to have to get to work.people on here keep saying that toei will shut down the fan sub sites.but they havent stopped china from releasing hk subs of these shows on dvds.plus bandai japan benefits a lot from fan subs since they sell a lot of super sentai and kamen rider toys outside of japan.so shuting them down wouldnt be a good marketing strategy on their part.
20 dollars a month? ::cringe:: Oh I wish I had that much money to throw away. That's just over 2 hours of work for me and equivalent of a weeks groceries for me. I'd make room in my budget if it was about 10 maybe a bit more. Hope this channel doesn't effect the future of subbed shows. TOEI I love you but please don't put a nail in my casket.
Unless you are into sports there really isn't a reason to get cable if you have decent internet.
They should have partnered up with say Hulu or Netflix to offer their content.
So US is broke?
gaimu's pose at right bottom, tendou souji wannabe?
$20 a month is not worth it without the subs. Which is till next year sooo.
Guys, I've visited the site, and it's $20 dollars for Toei and a fishing network.
While I won't watch the fishing network, I will watch toei.
What makes this sweet is that Ben Wagner is working on the subtitles. He has worked on many titles like Ultra Q, Kamen Rider V3, Zone Fighter to name a few. Cannot wait to see the channel live with Ben's great work!!!
Say what?
ppl say $20/month is equal to $20 a day for gas
I would pay $20 a month to be able to c all the old shows get subtitled since it's taking fansub groups fucking years to sub. which seems fucking retarded imho none r in HD and they have already been completed and are on vhs,dvd etc. yet they take fucking years to sube them. cough KITsubs cough G.U.I.S The only stuff I can watch are the more current stuff.
