Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise Get Mega Forms in Pokémon XY

Three more species will get Mega Evolutions in the latest installments of the Pokémon game franchise, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. It's no other than the original Pokémon trio — Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise!

Mega Venusaur can use Thick Fat, Mega Charizard has the ability Drought, while Mega Blastoise can use Mega Launcher to boosts its skills. In addition to their respective Mega Stone, it was also revealed that you will need to obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious Key Stone, which resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her partner.

Mega Evolution is only available in-battle. A capable Pokémon can only evolve into this state if they hold a specific "Mega Stone". For example, Blaziken can only evolve to Mega Blaziken if it holds Blazikenite during battle, etc. Other Mega Evolutions include Mega Absol, Mega Mawile, Mega Mewtwo, Mega Lucario, Mega Ampharos, and Mega Kangaskhan.

Pokémon X & Pokémon Y will be available for the Nintendo 3DS, and are scheduled to be released worldwide this October 12th. Pre-order now at Play-Asia and get FREE SHIPPING!

Waiting for that whiney anonymous who always complain and bitchin with every new Pokemon news calling it as a ripoff from Digimon in 3... 2... 1...

    @anon above me

how the BALLS does charizard win, he looks retarded as shit! it's some weird hodgepodge of a charifail and an aerodactyl.

    friggn blastoise gets ARM CANNONS.
    you can't beat arm cannons.

  9. So fun fact: In the entire history of Pokemon there has only been one Pokemon whose design iv hated, that Pokemon is Dunsparce. As of today Dunsparce has a friend his name is MegaBlastoise.

I always thought Blastoise was kinda silly looking for a Pokemon with the cannons and everything. But now this upgrade is just too Digimon-ish. Which normally wouldn't be a bad thing for me I love Digimon, I just don't wanna see a digimon in my Pokemon game.

Also the thing with the bracelet seems a little too out there for this franchise, but its not a game killer for me it just seems a bit out of place in Pokemon

Charizard looks better than his final evolution form by comparison.

I kinda want a Marowak upgrade.

  11. Unknown Says:

Maybe Venasaur looks almost the same but it's cool that the first 3 pokemon that starter with everything will have a MEGA form. I can't wait to see if the other generetions's starters will have mega evolutions, I want a mega Typhlosion *-*

    next be mega pikachu

  13. Captain Black Sparrow Says:

How is it that they can animate Charizard's wings to flap to kit it above ground yet water comes from Blastoise's mouth and not his cannons? I was hoping to see Blastoise plant himself on all fours and just water blast the hell out of something. Hopefully there will be an attack similar to that when the game comes out....

  14. Anonymous Says:

@Black Sparrow Well it's simple, all the projectile attacks whether water, fire etc are shared between all the pokémon and fire from more-or-less the same place. If they make the water shoot from MegaBlastoise' canons it'll mean every other pokémon will have to stand on it's toes to shoot.

Hopefully they've added some customised animations in this time around... there are a few pokémon who's attacks come from a bit too close to their crotches. :S
