Time for some new Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger news as the "Man from Japan" Filip brings you his latest scanlations from the newest issue of Terebi-Kun featuring the 12th hero of the rebellion, the Phoenix Soldier!
Meet Tsurogi Ootori, the legendary warrior known as the Phoenix Soldier. The Kyurangers will set him free from the Argo, an ancient rebellion ship owned by the first rebel soldier name Orion/Oh-Lion, after being stuck in suspended animation.
Tsurugi will transform in the Phoenix Soldier by activating the power of the Phoenix Kyutama with the help of his legendary weapon, the Phoenix Blade. He is known as the Space Bu-Star, a warrior of unparalleled speed and strength! His finishing attack is called "Phoenix End".
Deep beyond the Argo rest 3 legendaryachines that Phoenix Soldier controls. They are Phoenix Voyager, Phoenix Station and Phoenix Base. When trouble arises, this 3 machine will transform into one giant robot called Gigant Phoenix!

The more I see this, the more I consider this guy to be the "sixth" ranger.
He has, indeed, many of the "sixth ranger" concept.
Shou is more of a mentor ranger, like Deka Master
And Kotaro, well, nobody cares about that piece of garbage.
As much of a steaming pile this show has been so far, Phoenix Soldier has got a pretty dope design.
Technically, he's the twelfth ranger but loosely speaking, he's the real "sixth ranger" by Sentai standard.
6 + 6 = 12. 12 - 6 = 6.
