The Star Driver THE MOVIE (スタードライバー THE MOVIE) anime film had opened in Japan last weekend, earning 35 million yen (about US$370,000) in the first three days.
The film only opened in 24 screens. Sadly, the movie is not in the top 10 of Japan Box Office Weekend Charts.
The movie is described as a "new construction" of the anime's story. It will be a retelling of the television anime with new additions including an all-new epilogue after the story of the television series.
Director Takuya Igarashi at animation studio BONES, with scripts by Yoji Enokido, Star Driver THE MOVIE premiered last February 9th.
