The 8th volume of the IS: Infinite Stratos light novel includes the full preview of its second anime adaptation, Infinite Stratos 2. The voice acting cast from the first anime will be reprising their roles this season, with an addition of two new characters.
Yasuhito Kikuchi is back to direct the anime at 8-Bit and Hikaru Nanase is back to score the music. In addition, Kumi Horii (Zone of Enders) is now handling the character designs and Takeshi Takakura is joined by CHOCO (Busou Shinki) on mechanical designs.
The first anime series that started airing last January 2011 follows the events in the light novel's 1st to 3rd volumes, with minor changes in the plot. The story focuses around Ichika Orimura, who is discovered to be the first male to be able to pilot an IS.

"Minor changes in the plot"
I wouldn't consider removal of a character entirely and instead saying her IS unit was merely an 'unmanned' droid type of thing to be minor....but that's just me I guess.
